  1. I'll get back with you on that. It looks like the SR is becoming a decent European state, so it might be a great asset on the Security Council.
  2. Probably because the controller of the UN isn't up-to-date with the Yemen conflict? Anyway, the UN did something, but all it can do is put some economic sanctions out there and send a bunch of angry letters out. The proposal is a chance for the UN to become more powerful and help maintain peace, which can't be maintained if all it can do is send out embargoes, get their peacekeepers shot, and cry and beg the aggressors to stop being mean...
  3. Nah, we're just a prominent member, just like the UK and Germany is. Anyway, 10% military contribution from every member nation would pretty much bring world peace...
  4. Archi and Retech ------- Calm down and act reasonable (actually none of this is reasonable). ------- The US and Britain pass a proposal to the UN that every UN member contribute 10% of their armed forces to the UN with the sole purpose of trying to end the outbreak of wars, which will also give the UN more leverage (besides economic sanctions and angry letters). Another idea was global disarmament and the abolition of war, although it doesn't look like the latter proposal will go anywhere since no country is really is willing enough in order to abolish its armed forces and trust its securities in the hand of another entity. India is considering granting independence to its Southeast Asian protectorates and signing military treaties with them so the states are still protected from Japanese imperialism.
  5. Sen. Stevenson gave a speech in front of a History of Moral Philosophy class. "There is no such thing as a 'juvenile delinquent'. It's a contradiction. 'Delinquent' means 'failing in duty'. However, DUTY is an ADULT virtue -- indeed a juvenile becomes an adult when, and only when, he acquires a knowledge of duty and embraces it as dearer than the self-love he was born with. There never was, there cannot BE, a 'juvenile delinquent.' But for every juvenile criminal there are always one or more adult delinquents -- people of mature years who either do not know their duty, or who, knowing it, fail.... And THAT is the soft spot that will destroy what in many ways is our admirable culture. The hoodlums who roam our streets are symptoms of a greater plague. We glorify our 'rights' to the point where we lose track of our duties. No nation, so constituted, can endure." "...That, my friends, is the reason why the Federation needs to change....Why do we need to spank our children? I'm asking this question to the girl on the left in the third row." The girl responded, "Sir, spanking can damage a child's psyche and make them do evil things later on in life." Stevenson looked at her and politely responded, "Young woman.... That is the myth that you hear from social workers and so-called 'child psychologists'. There is no irrefutable (and there never will be) evidence that spanking traumatizes children. It's the contrary. Spanking instills virtue into a child by teaching them right from wrong. No human is inherently good. We all need to have virtue instilled into us, otherwise we become the lowest members of society --- those who rape, steal, and murder. What do you do when your puppy misbehaves? What happens if you do not spank it?" "Sir, the puppy will never know that it isn't supposed to make a mess." "Good. And what happens when it is fully-grown and still rowdy? Do you whip out a gun and shoot it?" "No, sir." "Very good. Now you should see that humans, too, must be spanked as children in order to learn right from wrong." [As he exits after thanking the class for hosting him for this evening, the class breaks into applause.] Senator Stevenson is currently running against President McPherson.
  6. Also, Retech... Wouldn't you have trouble with suicide bombers since Yemen holds Islamic militant groups that may view the Japanese as their oppressors? "ALLAHU AKBAR!" *BOOM*
  7. I'll have to think about it, although I'm currently looking into other avenues in order to pay off the debt over time, such as slashing the military expenses. The goal is to create a stabler country, although I still highly value my superpower status.
  8. Brazil isn't a major debt holder, though. I'll think about it, but it would probably ruin me if I did that.
  9. Someone might want to edit the information from the front page to include USD as the reserve notes instead of the Leu. Also, I added in the total gold reserves from every member of the Federation, so it's somewhere around 9200 tonnes instead of 8100 tonnes. I might need to go over it again for accuracy since I subtracted the IMF holdings (3033 tonnes, I think). Ethiopia declared war on Japan? Lolwut?
  10. I'm going to oblige and just reverse what happened yesterday. No one is financially ruined. The USD is still the global reserve note as before. The US still holds debt to Japan and China, among other creditors. There is no embargo against the Fed. The IMF still exists and is still based in the USA. Et Cetera. And don't worry, Retech/Paul. I'm going to find a way to eventually work off the debt and work on keeping faith in the Dollar.
  11. Oh, and I was trying to ease into the new currency over a period of time, but I just misunderstood it because economics is obviously not my strong point and never will be... I thought that the global problems would be immediate. The new currency was supposed to be somewhere between the Pound Sterling and the US Dollar. Oh, and I get enough resources right now to sustain my nation for a while. I was trying to ease more into the European market anyway. Oh, and I'm gone for tonight for real now. I just got finished with a jog and decided to screw around on the net before taking a bath and going to bed.
  12. Anyway, I'm off for the night and won't be back on. I have school tomorrow and can't bother with staying on for another hour for people to vent their frustration at me.
  13. Everyone go to the argument thread and discuss whatever the hell you want to discuss. I was told that this would work, so I don't see why I should be held accountable while everyone else ignores it. We can just delete the last two pages (about the global market collapse) and just pretend that it never happened, since everyone feels so strongly about it.
  14. I got it all from Arch. Well, I suppose that the Federation Dollar is among the most powerful currencies right now.
  15. So... Everyone's ignoring their 90% GDP loss?
  16. FTC only has to deal with international trade. The Federation Dollar is the domestic currency.
  17. I don't know, and I probably won't have anything figured out tonight since I don't have a whole lot of time to piss like I did the other nights.
  18. No idea. We never agreed if it would be $100 per 1 ounce or $500 per 1 ounce.
  19. No idea. You just told me that the trade currency would operate under a different standard since I need every bit of my gold in order to maintain my population. And everyone should seriously stop making a deal about it. Archi and I discussed this, and we agreed that every country would magically recover so no one would quit. Everyone's debt is clear, and the global market is set to rebuilt itself. The transition wasn't even intentional (as far as the global recession). I was just trying to standardize and revalue my currency.
  20. The gold standard will work, but only in either a small country or the Federation. The Federation currently has enough gold to satisfy its population, but it needs to work on slowing down or even decelerating the population growth. This can be accomplished by providing tax cuts for families that do not have children. Over time, the tax cuts could be abolished, and incentives could possibly be provided for stable birth rates. The IMF had no assets left, Dusty.
  21. The Federation approves of that motion and forwards it to the UN. President McPherson gave a speech about how the world is starting off on a clear fiscal slate. What's needed now is a global conversion to stable standards such as gold and other valuable materials.
  22. It collapsed. IMF collapsed after the US withdrew from it and converted to the gold standard. Gone. Pow.
  23. Another part of the plan was to alleviate the financial disaster by offering humanitarian aid. It's not as bad as everyone thinks it is, but it will suck for all of us for a while since everyone needs to rebuild under an old monetary system of the gold/silver/bimetallic system.
  24. Trying to pay off the debt would have ruined me anyway since it supposedly reached the point where the interest increased the deficit exponentially while I struggled to keep up. It's pretty much the fate of every currency. Three hundred years from now, $100,000 might be equivalent to $10. Oh, and there was a plan since we knew that everyone would quit if they lost 70-90% of their GDP or whatever. Somehow every country will recover back to normal over time, or something like that. If every country converts to the gold standard, it might be beneficial to everyone.
