Analysis of Runescape Highscores and Player Counts [Open]

Featured Replies

Recently I made a script to log certain ranks to a database in every skill. This script runs 3 times daily. It includes the rank, name, and experience of the player at the rank 1-20,100,1000,10000,100000,1000000 (and of course the 1337 variations inbetween). For overall it also records total level, since that's not easily calculated.

Now, if anyone would like this database and have a plan to utilize it, contact me and I'll get something set up. I'd really like to see pretty graphs and whatnot :)

Also, I have a script that collects world status every 10 minutes and gives me the world, a member/f2p boolean, offline/full/online status, # players, and location of the world (as in US West).

I would also gladly give out the database if you have a plan to make those pretty pretty charts :)

As of now, I have no one working on either project!

I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.

Wouldn't this violate the rule 7 update?

Anyways, I'd love to see your script attempt to determine f2p-only players (p2p players with absolutely p2p exp would be detected as well).

Since Jagex won't make a separate f2p/p2p list, maybe you can. :)

You should also make an overall ranking system by total exp rather than skill total.

That'd suck a crazy amount of their bandwidth, especially since they provide no easy access to hiscores like XML or something and you can't fetch specific bits of the page :P

Right now I'm fetching 3mb worth of data per run. All I really want to do with this is track changes over time, since they're always interesting :)

Not too familiar with the terms, but I'm sure I could pass the script off as second party since I wrote it (although it wouldn't be a wise idea to distribute :) )

A friend of mine made a statspage that updates whenever you visit the site. That's not only more convenient, but it also doesn't violate Jagex' rules.

I think you may want to read OP again and see if you comprehend it better :)

I'll take the highscores data base and see if I can make a somewhat intersting and pretty graph from it. PM me if you want to disscuss how to send me the data and i'll see what I can do with it.

Out of curiosity how long have you been colecting this data?
