There aren't any "must have" fonts. Don't use a font because it's "cool-looking" or "popular", use it because it fits whatever you're using it with.

Tribal, Squaredance, Gothic Hijinxes, Morpheus, Dreamscar. There's load more if you search. :D

for example, I am more minimalist, so I tend more toward the pixel fonts. Someone like Metal, though, would probably use some crazy detailed font since he likes doing that.

Or, people also like to use fonts that have a meaning, such as the fonts, representing blood, or dracula, etc... When in fact, you should be doing what UT and GSW have said above... The font should match the setting/concept of the sig and it's background...

Perhaps the key is to avoid the "must-haves". Try something new and fresh.
