Intro:

 

With the Fremmnik isles quest came another rune rock available to Runescape, but another and very cool extra were the ice trolls with their high granite/rune shield drop rate. I have tried different ways to range them to get my c bow from 2/10 to 0 to recharge and I found an absolute great safespot for them...

 

 

 

Why Ice trolls?

 

Well, because of their good drops, easy to reach and never, ever seeing another player stealing your monsters? Exactly!

 

 

 

Requirements:

 

Having done Fremmnik Isles quest.

 

 

 

Suggested:

 

40 prayer for range protection

 

70+ range for crystal bow

 

Methods to high alch

 

70+ mining to mine some addy while waiting for good spawn

 

Air staff and law runes to telegrab (and tele in case of emergency)

 

 

 

 

 

vEquipment I use:

 

 

 

 

Other possebilities

 

Head: Robin>Blessed Coif>Archer>any other equipment with range bonus

 

Neck: Fury>Glory>Power

 

Bow: Crystal Bow/ Mage short with any arrows

 

Body: Any dhide

 

Legs: Any dhide

 

Back: Ava's Accumulator>archievement cape>obby cape

 

(Accumulator since it gives range bonus, showoff is better done in F2P lumbie)

 

Feet: Rangers Boots>Snakeskin boots>any boots

 

Hands: Barrows gloves>dhide vambs

 

Ring: Wealth>Archer>Life

 

 

 

How to get there?

 

Go to Relleka by any means (lyre, house tele, fairy ring) and ferry to Jatizo, bank for your equipment and go to the mines west of the city.

 

In the mines follow the red line to the safespot

 

 

When standing there, you will have 2 spawns of ice trolls ready to kill, a ice troll male to the south and a ice troll FEMALE on the other side of the water that can't reach you with their range attacks. Use telegrab to prevent having to run around the pit in the centre to collect your drops.

 

 

 

 

 

Drops:

 

Granite shield, rune kiteshield, rune warhammer, noted sharks, addy axe, addy full helm.

 

Not bad ey? You easely make up for the cost of your crystal bow by one or more shields and other stuff.

 

 

 

Points of attention:

 

Beware of ice troll females, its really easy to die to them so always have some prayer points or food with you to prevend dying.

 

Use high lv alchemy cause of the many addy and steel item drop.

 

 

 

Conclusion:

 

Easy to range, good profit and good xp. All this makes this a good place to use those last charges on you crystal bow :P

Starting the fremmnik isles quest is required to go to jatizo although you might be able to enter the mines withouth starting the quest.

 

Although I strongly reccomend NOT to go there as pure since with no/low defence and low/no prayer you will get killed pretty quick by the ice troll females while they are aggresive...

If you had read the whole guide's text you would have noticed me putting 70+ mining in suggested :P No offence though and a compliment for having the brain to think of addy mining :P

on average how long can you stay down there with that setup? and btw 2 rune kites a trip?! that rocks a found a new place to stock up on rune for my clans f2p pk trips =D> =D>

OMG! Just went there to try it, and my first drop was a rune kite!
