Nadril
If your router is only 8 or 9 meters away why don't you just hardwire it instead of wireless?
Reverze
Because my dad would have to make a hole in the wall and that's why we have wireless, we have 2 computers.
Cruiser
8-9 meters should still be a fairly strong signal. You may want to try changing the channels the wireless signal broadcasts on to try and do away with any interference in the area. You can find the channel settings in your routers configuration pages.
JoeDaStudd
Ok, first how is your pc connecting to the wireless network (USB adapter or PCI/PCI-E)? Second what router are you using? If your answer to the first question was a USB adapter then buy a PCI or PCI-Express adapter as they offer a much better range, which will give you better signal strength. I would also look for any firmware updates for the router as they may sort out the issue. I use one from linksys and I can pick up signals with 4/5 bars or so from the house next door easily.

Some USB adapters are very poor on signal strengh I'm using one right now, but if I move it about 1m or so ill drop from a 72% strength (very good rating) to 2% or loss connection completely. Even though its only about 5 to 8 meters away from the router (its a old house and the walls are about 2 to 3 feet thick). Reverze
Ok, My norton problem is solved :D Now, about my connection problems, I'm using an Asus 802.11g 54 Mbps usb stick(although I only get 11Mbps). The signal is always low but I haven't had many connection losts lately... By the way is it normal that after a few hours the usb stick gets really really hot? :-k I think I might buy a PCI or PCI-Express adapter, as JoeDaStudd mentionned. (Any particular brand I should take?) Thanks for helping me out, guys

Hehe brooooom. Netgear make some fairly cheap stuff? Belkin... Um. 3Com, dunno if they make wireless adapters. Just about anything will do. Notoriously Trollish. Reverze
My stick worked "fine" (not too many connection losts) for a few months but now it loses the signal every hour... So I'm finally going to buy a PCI card  : NETGEAR PCI Card WiFi 108 Mb MIMO WPN311. But I was just wondering if it will work with my router ( this might sound stupid but i'm not very high tech lol) I'm not entirely sure what router I have, it's from netopia and it worked with the asus stick so I think it should work with that PCI card too, right? Cruiser
First, deleting your first post is annoying as hell. Now nobody will know what was being talked about when the thread was started. :wall: That card should be fine. Looks a little expensive ($79 on newegg :? ) but it'll do the job. I guess I can post the site for other people who might be interested (if not, pm me and I will delete ASAP) Pixmania-Pro
