Question About The Top Players-This Isn't A Noob Post TBH

Featured Replies

When I go read topics in general p2p or general, i most often see topics about *a top 21 player*, *a top 21 player*, and other top 50 players, and too the 200mill people in different skills. This got me thinking. Tip.It has interviewed top players when tip it mods say 'let them play their own game' or something across that line. So I really don't know if interviewing top players is crossing their own words. Your probably thinking that I'm saying let us post about top players because I'm a noob-.-, but this isn't really my point.

A user posts about *a top 21 player* being a mod, or the person being knocked done from hiscores. To me i honestly think some topics should be locked about *a top 21 player* especially if that info or the topic posted is in an interview with that player. But the topics about historical event in the Hiscores should be allowed. If a top 21 player were to be knocked off the Hiscores, or any chaotic thing happened within the Hiscores it should be posted and clarified. Just like posts about jagex updating the game are. Interviewing zezima or other top players is by that plays conscent.

Don't get me wrong, top players deserve as much privacy as any would want at their position in the game, but a topic about 'another player reaches 2277' should be allowed, this is a historical event, or when one player achieves 1billion exp it should also be allowed to be posted.

I can see someone posting a topic about a player reaching 1billion exp, and it getting locked in 10 minutes or less. But why? It breaches someones sense of security?

The Hiscores is basically like real life, if a person becomes famous, a magazine or a blog will post about that person, if the information is valid, it'll stay, if incorrect it'll be dealt with. If a persons chooses fame, they should be ready to deal with the critism, comments or anything that accompanies it.

Tip It goes by not making exceptions for any user, no matter how 'special' they are in-game and that tip It is a different atmosphere from rs.

So, my question is basically:

Why are we not allowed to post topics about historical events that relate to Runescape's top players that are crucial in the games past?

Why can we not post about the Hiscores faults of Top Players?

I udnerstand targeting one person in the top w/e can lead to lawsuites, but can someone file a lawsuite for posting their individual and assumptions on historical claims?

I need answers, its bugging me>.>

Sounds like a debate to me, since you actually have your own opinion about it, you're not looking after answers to a question, but after a discussion/debate, no?

Debate forum? :o

I couldn't really decide, so i thought I'd play it safe...but i do see how it could go into debate forum...would a very nice mod overlook this topic and move it to their desires, please with a cherry on-top, =)?

EDIT: I'm giving the mod who moved this a meatloaf for christmas<- - this is meant as a positive thing.

I agree. Its just tip.it having double standards.

Uh, no. When tip it times posted something like an interview, that was consent, as opposed to the forum threads.

But barring even an argument like that, posts about people specifically are generally spammy and useless, even if those threads aren't in a negative light.

Gossip about anyone = spam.

I don't see how you can say that a topic on a player is pure gossip, especially when people post about their achievements. I'm quite concerned that we can't talk about players who have achieved certain levels worthy of acknowledgment on a Runescape dedicated board. Please. Needing someones permission before being able to post a topic about them is ludacris particularly for those who aren't living under a rock and realize that this sort of thing is going on every second in Runescape alone.

And I'd like to know what mod out their hasn't mentioned a certain player who is in the spotlight in the game of Rs to anyone out there, and particular has gotten consent from that player to speak of them in the first place. Please.

Seriously, its not hard to relax the rules for once in your lives admins. Lock or delete the spammy threads (yes I realize there's lots out there) but keep the legitimate threads open for those who actually have something to offer and contribute. Especially considering recently that's been a rarity quite a lot of the time on the Rs dedicated boards.

eels, you worded what i meant perfectly.

and what some of your words come back to is historical things that have happened, and which were legit, but got locked.

Whether it's in a positive or negative light the constant topics become annoying to regular users and also to the people the topics are about. At a certain point I would assume that topics about either of you would get annoying after a while even if it were just to talk about your rank in skill X. There is an obvious enough difference between personal conversation and making an entire topic about someone so I shouldn't even have to respond to that part of your post.

I find it funny that it's said all topics are instantly locked. There was one very recently on the Gen P2p board about the person ranked #1 in hunter. It only got locked after the discussion started taking a turn. If everyone wants someone to blame for most topics becoming instantly locked, blame yourselves. It's nearly impossible for users to have a decent conversation about these high ranked players. And before you say those posts could be removed, why even try moderating topics that are that close to spam to begin with. I've seen so few posts like this that even warranted being made and even less that turn out well.

The point there was the fact about needing to get people's permission before posting about them. Talking about them and creating a topic about them is the same thing, just because its written down doesn't make a topic all glorified or anything, and that was the point I was making.

And about your second point, nobody is asking you guys to not lock those threads which are close to spam when they begin, which I know come up often on the runescape related boards. But the legitimate ones should be kept open, and the rule that you need permission to post about someone in the first place is plainly stupid. It annoys me seeing mods locking threads and replying to them saying "let "this or that player" play his own game" or anything along those lines. Its not going to bug well known players having a topic on them in a Rs related forum, anymore than what the constant annoyance in game from those who harass and follow them around.
