Locking suggestions about macroing - randoms and syntax

Recommended Posts

There seems to be a lot of suggestions about stopping macroing, which is good, but they mostly random ideas and syntax, which is bad.

These ideas won't work, with the majority of macros, when they get a random, the server actually tells the macro, "You have a random, this is how to solve it."

Another common suggestion is using syntax, the type of writing that jagex used in the old fatigue system. - Which failed miserably. Syntax is easily read by an OCR.

Anything a person can do, a macro can do better. The ways to stop macroers aren't in game. (See my post entitled "Real way to stop macroers, won't affect game play")

I post in many of these threads explaining why their ideas won't work, telling them to google OCR etc, but people keep posting "good idea" even though I just posted exactly why it won't work and why it isn't a good idea.

These posts are annoying, useless and make a mess of the forum.

I ask that these topics be locked, I am willing to write a post to be referred to on lock, explaining exactly why these ideas won't work.

In response to Errdoth's post...

my idea is really simple really. all it is is that you have to have 1/3 quest points of the level you are using... so if you wanted to cut a yew it would take 60 wc and 60 times 1/3 which is 20 quest points. end of chinese sweatshops. could a p2p forward this to the runescape forums (im f2p) because i really think this would work; it wouldnt even affect the middle to high level players at all

Intro

Since everyone knows about the problem Jagex is having with the sweatshops and stuff, I will just go right into the discussion about a solution with explaining the problem in depth.

Solution

I think that Jagex should make a new quest for the wc skill. Like if you wanted to chop willows you would have to completed a quest to gain that ability to cut them. Sorta like the runecrafting quest. This would make the people working in the sweat shops and for money to do more then just cut logs. This way they would have to engage in the game a little more. I mean, it is pretty easy for the people running the sweatshops to say "ok, this is a ax, click on the tree to cut it. After the tree disappears wait the cut again.".

Because the wc skill is a easy skill in that you don't have to buy numerous items. All you need is a ax. And when those lvl 3 can cut yew, then are still using bronze axes. But with things like fishing and stuff, nobody is going to buy shrimp in loads of 'k'. So some requirements for the quest should be a certain lvl of crafting, fishing, and combat. This would make it harder for the sweatshops. What we want is for these people to have to interact with the game more then they are.

I just thought of this idea after reading about the problem. This plan will not stop the sweatshops entirely, but then again, if someone wants to sell something it is sorta hard to stop then. This is just to make it harder on the sweatshops. It can be refined alot, so sound off and give me your ideas.

have an "attack" option on suspected macroers, single skilled people who dont talk and upset the balence in runescape

So what if autoers, or macroers had their place? What if when a new account was created, there was an option to say this would be a macroing account? WAIT! Don't hang me yet. What if the account was created as such, they could ONLY log onto world X, Y and Z. Things could be a little different on world X, Y and Z. Macroing levels would come alot slower. Instead of getting 25xp points for cutting down a tree, you would only get 1xp point. Or for mining some ore, only 1xp point. Anything done on these worlds would give you only 1xp point. Leveling here would take a long time, thus no autoers on the high scores list.

This was the first 4-1/2 pages of the Suggestion's board... need I continue?

I would love to see the response from several of the pure skillers that I know, who have a main, and make a new account with a single skill they choose to level up, very dedicate people.

Anyway, my suggestion would be to lock all of the threads like that, including the authors, and let jagex deal with it themselves, they seem like they would know what they're doing...

Agreed Errdoth.

So basically you want us to stop others from posting their ideas because you think yours is better?

I think what he's asking is to lock these threads because they're repetitive, cluttering, unhelpful (as Jagex, I'm sure, has people working for more than five minutes to obtain solutions) and just generally annoying.

Whether or not they're good ideas, they have been thought of before, and are pretty useless ; I'm sure Jagex does not use this forum as their primary think tank of anti-macro ideas.

I didn't say that, I used my idea as an example of one which doesn't change game play, it is a suggestion code wise. As generally the only updates which stop macroers (and don't mess up the economy, like pure ess) are in the coding, not game. Currently most of jagex's anti-macro protection are traps in the code, and a reflection system.

Also, I am not talking about all macroing ideas, just suggestions for randoms, using syntax, or quiz's.

I am asking that you do stop these ideas, not because mine are better, but because they don't work.

Syntax is easily read by an OCR, people keep suggesting it.

Randoms don't work, and I explained why, yet people keep suggesting them.

Quiz's don't work, even if jagex makes thousands of questions, they will still use some kind of variables and only a few different questions, once someone finds the variables, the quiz is easily solved.

Also because of what no_username4 said.

Because people might be wondering why their thread got locked, or why the idea won't work I volunteered to make a post to be referred to on lock, explaining why their idea won't work. This should reduce posts of this type, and reduce clutter, and staff wouldn't have to spend the time writing the post.

darkblade986: Of those 4 ideas on the first 4 1/2 pages, Jagex won't use the first idea of a quest point requirement or the second asking for a combat requirement because of skillers.

I really doubt jagex will add an attack option for people that you think are macroing, it will just get abused, and that last idea, allowing macroing worlds? I will honestly eat my hat and host the video if jagex uses this.
