  1. Just another illustration, if you take an unpopular world... Why aren't the tags working? Oh well, it's there.
  2. How will this change runescape? 1) No more PKing, obviously. 2) Trading will be limited, and because of the GE, eventually degraded to a means of giving away tinderboxes. 3) Nobody will have to worry about losing their stuff unless they want to. Essentially, any element of danger is eliminated. Jagex is transitioning, and screwing over the game in the process. At least when they made RS2, they kept RSC around for those who liked it. I would have liked a RS3, at least I could have stuck to my old game for awhile.
  3. Maybe Jagex should have talked about this in the updates, instead of acting like they're the best thing that ever happened to Runescape. A lot of people don't read the diaries. Jagex would have gotten a lot less flames if they had said this sort of thing in the updates, instead of... I don't know what the heck they were trying to do. Appealing to kids, I suppose.
  4. I hope this IS caused by the update and that Jagex does something about it. Dec 11 update: ctrl+z I'll keep checking the updates to see if I have reason to go back. Here's hoping. Well, goodnight tip.it and goodnight Runescape.
  5. You honestly think they're having a large impact? 300,000,000 peoples in US (completely ignoring other countries, which are a big part of RS) 200,000 usually online 300,000,000peoples/~200,000players = 1500 people per one RS player 500,000/1500 = ~300 people in that group. HUGE difference. This may have an impact, but there's obviously been a huge loss due to the sucky update.
  6. East LA is crime infested. US bombs the heck out of LA, killing millions. Lesser of two evils I suppose? Well, don't blame the government doing the genocide, blame those gangsters, it's OBVIOUSLY their fault.
  7. I don't why we should celebrate a number of minigames that barely come close to replacing the entire game element (like half the f2p world) we had before.
  8. I think Jagex knows that more people don't pvp as people who do, so it's more profitable to appeal to the non PvPers. The people who are criticizing are doing so because Jagex really doesn't care about us (they don't even try very hard to make it seem like they do). If they lose 1 million old vets and gain 1.5 million newbs, it's a plus. Old timers pay the same as newbs. Over time I'd come to feel a bond to Jagex, the guys who started out small, from almost nothing, and went big; and I got to be along for it, all while playing a fun game. No matter what way you look at it, Jagex basically [nail]ed over all the pkers, knowing there would be more newbs to take their place.
  9. I'm comparing the current RS to a gameboy game. It has about the same amount of inter-player interaction.
  10. (yet another "I hate the updates!" topic!) So I ask, what now is the difference between Runescape and a single player game (take pokemon, for instance)? You can run around, buy from the stores, train your skills and kill monsters. With specialized "game link" technology, you can even occasionally trade with friends! Don't worry though, you'll never get ripped off more than a petty amount. Also with "game link" technology, you can fight with your friends! Amazing!! Doing so in groups will be difficult, but we're working on ways to facilitate such super advanced features. So what is the difference between this and a single player game? 5 dollars a month I say.
  11. To Vincent: Maybe you haven't been playing for too long. I've played since RS1 on and off, and I've never complained (save the pure essence update). Now I am. In fact, I'm leaving Runescape. They've killed the game I know and love. I can't go wander the wilderness with my friends, trying to find a lonely soul to pk. We can't share rune armor. We can't give gifts. On the plus side, I'll never lose another item unless I go to the wilderness. On the downside, that completely ruins the aspect of danger in "dangerous" areas. I'm sure Jagex will do fine. Over time, they'll lose a lot of their old players, but they'll retain more new players. I would have preferred they make a RS3 so I could still enjoy my old game. Oh well. I'm done with RS. I'll stick around with the small hope that they'll fix things, but that is all but gone. :boohoo: Jagex has just showed that it IS about the money.
  12. yes, as infinitely rare as a reaper hood. :( I'm just bothered that Jagex caters to newbs in the way that they do.
  13. That's right. I collect spinach rolls. I cherish the randoms that supply them, I jump when some fool (or guy with not enough bank space) drops them. I also get them from friends. Furthermore, I buy them. I don't claim that they're rare. I recognize that they have value only in my eyes. Why then, must Jagex kill my hobby? My beloved passion? Selling spinach rolls is not that huge of a scamming problem. Nobody makes millions off a guy who wants a spinach roll. It's not a widespread scamming problem either. Anyone with any experience in Runescape will know of this scam, and anyone who falls for it will know better. Jagex has been increasingly pampering Runescape infants (and by that I mean people new to RS) at the cost of actual players. Now they've gone and killed entire aspects of game play, and to what? The benefit of a few dozen people's 10k? I would post on the Runescape forums, but I'm not a member, so I guess my opinion doesn't matter. In short, I collect spinach rolls, and I'm annoyed that Jagex has taken this away from me. Just wait until they ban cabbage trading. Edit: Mind your language please, assassin
  14. I disagree. Most people who are veteran f2pers (<18 yr. olds excluded) have already considered p2p, and decided they didn't want to for some reason, be it money, time or whatever. These people (like me) only want enough space to play f2p effectively; we're not gonna buy members when all we want is the space. It doesn't seem right (nor does it really make sense to me) to try and force us to pay for the full game just so we can play the free game. Too bad about D_V_Devnull, he was a good guy. :boohoo:
