crow
This is the situation: I'm currently crafting law runes, and am getting good cash that way. I'm planning on getting some mage levels @ pc. (currently am 70 mage) (*for if I ever get so much money: If I take in calculation I'm doing over 100 damage each cast, I can choose between 61k ice bursts (roughly 80mil) getting mage to 99 and hp to 95 or 96 or 122k ice bursts (160mil) getting mage, def and hp up to 99. *) I'm not going to spend that big amounts of money on it in one go, but I might throw in a few mil in one go. (and maybe even get a better idea of how much damage I do on average per cast) My main doubt is choosing between auto-cast mage exp only or mage/def

crow
ice bursts: 4 chaos, 2 deaths, 4waters per cast. And mainly I want to boost it fast, and am also a bit in doubt if it's faster first earning the money and then casting the fastest method or just doing melee-slayer, and using normal spells on monsters. Howdydee2003
i say u lvl with fire bolt... save alot of money... or to save even more go to pc and get ur combat up while dropping the tickits on mage Howdydee2003:99 Attack - 99 Strength - 99 Hits - 99 Magic - 99 SmithingFirst To get 99 Smithing With GoldSmithing Guants Zx7r Ninja (Currently Training) Updated 2/14/09: Ags Achieved on 2/15/0975/75 Attack 89/99 Strength 50/50 Def 78/85 Hits***Owned a Bandos Godsword since 59 Combat***
crow
Maybe it saves me money, but does it save me time? Ancient might cost more, but it's probably 9 times as fast. (higher hit, and likely I hit 9 targets at once eacht hit @ pc) 184k fire bolts needed for 99 mage (if all hit with max hit and I use chaos gaunlets) fire bolt costs 150(for the chaos)+30(cheap airs)=180per cast =33mil +ancients is more fun. Tired_souls
it's your choice... If i had money id got with ancients and if you have lvl 65 you could make all your own runes. which would save at least 25% of your costs if your commeted. When i was P2P on my Mage pure i'd make at least 20% of the runes needs to get my mage lvl up it helped raising my RC lvl and it didnt put such a big dent in other future plans i had with the money i got from RC earlier on. crow
Thanks But I still wants some opinions about my original question: def/mage or only mage exp?
RayOxide
Just mage xp. Mage+Def= Longer to get Magic up, which means the more it costs. To raise defense normally it doesnt cost anything (Excluding food) But when you use Mage + Defense it always takes longer, costs more, and there's no use of making / buying more runes. Also, Fire bolt is a great way for xp. Although, My magic is only 41 ( ) So, don't ask me. This is just what I think ~Ray I dont need a siggy no moar. steffanimal
It depends. What is your goal, Mage 99 or Def 99? If Def doesn't care, go for Mage. If it does, and you make money like crazy, Go for the expensive way. Me myself stay with raising mage while making money. Cryptogram
Just train defence melee at pc, and take mage gear with you. When the opportunity arises where you can ancient a bunch of baddies, whip on your mage gear and away you go. This way, you are training defence mainly, sometimes mage, and you can spend points on mage. The benefit is that you only use runes when there are enough targets to make it worthwhile. For pc I equip - Zerker helm, proselyte body and legs, rune boots, barrow gloves, seers ring, fury, rune defender and whip. Switching to mage I use - Ahrim's minus staff, ancient staff and infinity boots. It takes about 2 seconds max to change gear, and you could add unholy book or mage book to the list if you want.
