me
I'm a big fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series and Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea series. But you can't go wrong with Isaac Asimov (I, Robot) or Philip K. [bleep] (Blade Runner, Total Recall, The Minority Report). scyzor349
- George RR Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice (amazing series...probably my favorite of all!) I was waiting for someone to mention A Song of Fire and Ice. I'm currently on the 3rd book and I think it's fantastic.

I regularily read sci-fi, typically two books per month. My favourite stuff; David Weber - Honor Harrington series (10 books) David Weber - Mutineer's Moon series (4 books) Orson Scott Card - Ender series (4 then 3 books) Harry Turtledove - World War series (7 books), great alternative history Peter F Hamilton - Nights Dawn trilogy and Pandora series Chris Bunch & Alan Cole - Sten series (8 books) David Feintuch - Midshipman series (first four are good) Kim Stanley Robinson - Mars series (3 books) Kevin J Anderson - Saga of the Seven Suns series John Ringo and Weber - March series (4 books) Jack McDevit - lots of good stand alone books Steven Baxter - lots of fantastic individual books to name but a few really... me
I was waiting for someone to mention A Song of Fire and Ice. I'm currently on the 3rd book and I think it's fantastic. I'm working my way through A Song of Fire and Ice right now, actually - and thoroughly enjoying it. The story, plot and characterisations are good. It downplays the fantasy element a lot, although I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing. One of the things I like most about it is that it isn't good versus evil, it is just different perspectives and ideologies.
