May 25, 200719 yr Now im aware that this is a Runescape based Website, but alot of people use and like the Off Topic forum - Some only stay to use the Off Topic forum. I thought it may be pretty cool to have an 'Off Topic Hot Topic' posted on the Home page, as, to be fair, alot of older, more mature website users may enjoy browsing that, as opposed to what quest you liked the most. Just a suggestion. Any thoughts?

Just a suggestion. Any thoughts? As you said, and I won't deny the point, a lot of people use the Off Topic forums. However, an equal number (if not more) use the General and General P2P forums and the other related forums. I'm sure that if an Off Topic topic received a lot of attention, similar to the present Hot Topics, it will be considered. Most of the present Hot Topics so far have been game-like, however, or are based enough on opinion and on a topic that most, if not all, members of these forums will know about. For example, this week's topic, "Most Annoying P2P Quest," relies on a player's knowledge of quests, which almost all players do and as such would know about. Looking through the Off Topic forums, the most active topic I can see is UEFA Championship League/Cup topic, which only has 300 posts. I honestly have no clue what it is, nor would most of our members. In addition, most of our news announcements deal with Runescape topics, and as such we will rarely, if ever, talk about non-Runescape topics unless they relate to the site. May 26, 200719 yr Author You bring a number of vair points, but a the Hot Topic for Off Topic doesn't really have to be the one with the most posts right, surely i can be the one which has had the most post in a shorter time? It's just a possibilty. After speaking to 4-5 of my friends who use the Home page and some of the Forum, none of them had any idea Off Topic existed. Now, many of them are quite active in it.
May 26, 200719 yr That would be nice to have a hot topic from off-topic, as I rarely venture out of there and the gallery, but I would rather keep the off-topic community as it is, and not flood it with people who know only how to type in 1337 5p3ak. Imagine: The religion topics usually grow fast; if one of those gets hot topic, it is spammed with pointless discussion and people who have no idea what they are talking about.=, and the quality of the thread drops entirely. For every thoughtful, meaningful, and well opinionated post, there would be 20 of them that are pointless, one word sentences. Last.fm Signature Overlays

May 28, 200719 yr Why not the occasional double hot topics.. One for runescape related issues the other non related? Maybe make non-runescape related hot topics once in a while and less frequent than runescape related hot topics? :-k Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

If you know what I mean. :P Yeah that's quite true, but it wouldn't be too hard to introduce more mods into the Off Topic section. I believe it needs a couple more anyway at the moment, even without the "you know who" coming in. :wink:
