June 4, 200719 yr Alright, so I'm doing a video project for spanish, and we based ours off of 24 (you know, the show?) Anyways, i was assigned editor, and i was given a dvd of a season of 24 so i could take the intro off of it. The only way i could think of was by using camtasia and recording the intro while i play the dvd (i've tried vlc media player and some nero program); however that does not work. Instead, it just records nothing. Is there any way to configure camtasia to record it, or any way to record it in general? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
June 4, 200719 yr umm.. i dont think you can just record a copy protected DVD like that. try searching youtube for the 24 intro and downloading it from there.

As long as he owns the media, or has permission from the owner, he has permission to make backup copies of the data in any way desired. To watch the backup copy and the original copy at the same time is in violation of the license, but to simply have two copies is not illegal in any way at all. To the OP: I have a friend who used to do this for less justifiable purposes than your own. I'll ask him what software he used and get back to you. June 4, 200719 yr In the United States (since 2004) it has not been permitted to decrypt DVD's. In the UK, however, there is nothing against it. The US movie industry is pushing to make it illegal, but it is not. Also, where you hail from, Finland, is making moves to liberate media and make it available to copy.
