Enipeus
Runescape on my computer runs really laggy and choppy. Whenever I play on my mom's computer it runs so smooth and its so much more pleasent to play. Is there anything I could do to make runescape run smoother on my computer. I dont really know the details on either computer but they're both windows and my mom's is an xp and im pretty sure mine is too. I uninstalled limewire off my computer and downloaded the latest version of java but it didn't seem to make a difference at all. Any advice? :ohnoes:
Cruiser
Go to Start > Control Panel > System (On the slow, problem system, not your mom's :P ) Take a screenshot of that window and post it or tell us what the window says. This will tell us the basic hardware you have and will help decide if it's just a slow computer or not.
Enipeus
System: Microsoft windows XP Home edition version 2002 service pack 2 Computer: AMD Anthlon 1.09 GHz, 256 MB of RAM
Cruiser
1.09 GHz, 256 MB of RAM Defiantly could use a RAM upgrade. That would be the most probable reason for RS running slowly. That machine will be rather old too, so there isn't much you'll be able to do to boost performance beyond adding more RAM.

Just like those who tell newbies they can download ram. But seriously you will need to buy some. Go here and let it scan your pc, afters its done it will recommend possible ram upgrades and tell you where to buy from. Cruiser
thats the same RAM as mine, and i can run RS on high detail perfectly. Which is relative to your CPU type/speed, OS and other background processes. You may be running a faster CPU, older version of windows that uses less RAM or less clutter in the background. XP with 256mb is on the low side, even if you happen to have RS running flawlessly. It may be usable, but a RAM upgrade can help things along quite a bit. Bradley_006
If all you wanna do is play runescape... Ctrl + Alt + Delete > Task Manager > Right Click what you play runescape with and "Go to process" > Right click process > Set priority > above normal - real time. How high you set it depends on how smoother it will run but it slows down other programs on your computer. Realtime > Normal
