Smash Brothers Melee (not brawl)

Hey anyone play Super Smash Brothers Melee? I play it quite a bit now, I know it is a couple of years old but I still reckon it is the best multiplayer game I've played. Well this is a discussion about your favoruite character in the game and I need help to start beating my friends more.

 

 

 

Well ok, I usually play with the character Marth or Pichu and my friends play the following characters, ice climbers, ness, kirby, zelda, young link and they pretty much own me. i've come to acknowledge they are the most awesome characters in the game and I usually get slaughtered, we only play on final destination map and have no items so it is all about pure skill :lol: (it is also frowned upon to use the C stick)

 

 

 

Well any tips for me? Whats the best character to use in this game, I've generally found big lumbering characters to get owned by the small quick ones, ness and ice climbers own me especially because they're so small. i've started using pichu and am ok with him (im quite bad with the characters kirby and ice climbers :XD: )

 

 

 

What are your strategies for this game? \

No items like that is tough but I would like to know with each character How do you get owned like what attacks and such then i might b able to help you more!!

Well Ness, Kirby and Ice climbers are really fast characters (like punches) etc, they can really kick the crap out of you, they are also really hard to K.O because they have good save moves, ness especially is one of the hardest :XD:

My favorite character is Marth and i tried him in your same situation except i was using level 9 cpu's.

 

 

 

I found that using dodges rolls and especially against Ness counters were extremely useful!

Well for final destination a good character to use is peach. She has great abilites to recover from being thrown far of falling off. Since that course is so small the only way she can die is if she is Koed.

 

 

 

Falco is also a very good character because he is only a little bit slower then fox but his moves are much stronger.

 

 

 

Oh, and i'm not sure how you manage to get owned by the ice climbers. They are rubish characters really.

I heard Kirby was one of the best for beginners. I haven't done too bad with him, although I think I've had better success with Pikachu.

 

Personally, I don't think there's any best character. Whoever fits you the best is the best. If Marth or Pichu fits you the best, use them.

Your right kriby, is good for beginners. In fact mostly all the characters that you get at the start of the game are good for beginners. At a beginning level you would not want to use marth, roy, or Mr. game and watch. They are the more complex characters but can be deadly if in the right hands.

Well if your in the air and you press Down B you turn into a rock and fall to the ground landing on someone and doing damage.

learn how to short hop, lcancel and abuse grabs

 

 

 

shiek will rape most of the characters you said. kirby sucks, don't even both using him. try peach, shiek or marth, all are easy to learn

 

if you only play final destination you could choose samus and spam smashed missles across the map, then learn how to bomb jump for recovery(lay one bomb, then lay a second bomb, the first bomb will explode and you will gain extra horizontal distance)

 

oh, and [bleep] if they don't let you use the cstick. call them dumb for not using something that's in the game

And my friends also say no to C-Stick when we play...Unless you're a noob, like me...

 

If you're the worst out of your friends, ask if you can use it because you suck. No offense, but if they let you, at least you'll have a better chance of winning than without the C-Stick.

 

Keep searching for "your" character. Some people can use Ice Climbers better than a "better" character. You'll find "your" character eventually, just keep trying out each one.

BEST GAME EVAR.

 

 

 

I use Falco. \ My advice would be to learn how to dodge. Instead of walking (when you're fighting) just do L-> or L<- to get around. It took me a while to learn, but once I got in the habit, I won a lot more. Figure out combos for your character. For example, on Link, use your boomerang and bow to distract your enemy a little. Try to catch them off-guard with your grab and chuck them off the edge. Finish them off by using up-b when they try to get back on the map. Play as other characters. Learn how to counter their moves and learn what their moves do. All of this can easily be done by running through classic 1P mode on a setting you can handle.

 

 

 

I think the best thing to do is a 4 person all Jigglypuff round. Nothing beats that.

The problem with the computer characters though is that they are just... Stupid. You can easily beat them with logic you may lose with brut force. Like if i kick one up in the air i can run under it before it falls and do an up power attack. Now a real player would never fall for that move!

 

A CP can not show the real potential of a character.
