So...I had this idea...

So, I have this goal in life. And I figured there's got to be enough astronomy freaks around here to help me out, so...I wanna adopt a galaxy! I figure there's billions of them discovered all named by catalog, and I just want one, one to name, so any ideas on how I could do this?

First buy a telescope

Then Buy NASA.

By adpot do you mean buy?

Who would you buy it off?

This is a hard one actually.

I'd love to buy it, but it's like this with stars. No one owns them, so there's no one to buy them from, so you adopt them.

I guess this is like me and my penguin. No one owns a penguin (Other than aquariums/zoos/etc), yet I "bought" one. It was called adopting.

I'm fairly obsessed with astronomy, although it's one of the interests of mine that I used to love but no so much anymore. I think you should be able to get your answer off the NASA website...If not, I doubt anyone ere would know.

I actually own one already. The Triexel galaxy is located near Ursa minor, and I have the coordinates if anyone wants it.

I'm not going to tell you how I pulled off this feat... nope

There are no official databases where you can name a galaxy. Basically the places where you spend money to name a galaxy are big scams.

As good as any other naming service; I bet you don't get a laminated certificate though.

Which way do I tilt my neck when I look up? Haha, the whole idea is a little quaint in my opinion, but whatever floats your boat.

And I thought a star was egotistical... :P

Pay NASA to discover one and name it after you.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

That's just too funny... for some reason.

In Soviet Russia, glass eats OTers.

Alansson Alansson, woo woo woo!

Pink owns yes, just like you!

GOOOOOOOOOO ALAN! WOO!

Lol, I wonder if there's someone or something out there that has bought our galaxy. Now that would be ironic.
