June 18, 200719 yr I'm on a win2k box. I need to make it think it's a winXP box so I can install wmplayer10. Suggestions? June 18, 200719 yr So you are running Windows 2000, but you want to install WMP10, which is designed for windows XP? I don't know how to do this, but trust me, it might not be worth it. WMP10 is the exact same thing as WMP9, but looks a little bit different. It has the same options, but just a different layout, and they did the same thing with IE7, where there is no bar at the top with "File" "Edit" and all those conveniently located buttons. I don't know why they did that, but i really hate it.
June 18, 200719 yr I'm in the same boat as Nomar. Unless there is a major reason that you absolutely have to have WMP10, it isn't worth the trouble. Winamp, iTunes, Foobar2000 and others do the exact same thing without the headache.
June 18, 200719 yr Author Napster DRM requires something higher than wmplayer9 can support. I am pretty sure it can be done, it's just a registry spoof - I just don't remember which one it is. For the record, I'm well aware of potential consequences of what could happen, and have exhausted just about every other option short of asking my boss's boss (who handles this kind of thing) for winXP. The problem lies in my computer manages the licenses for certain programs, which happen to be difficult to setup. I know they will be resistant to going through the downtime of not having those applications as well as the hassle of reconfiguring it just so I can have music :-\ The refuge that you built to flee that places that you've come to fear the most ... is the place that you have come to fear the most.Operator - http://www.heartunit.orgCouncil - http://z8.invisionfree.com/skillazModerator - http://forum.meebo.com
June 19, 200719 yr And how do you know that Win 2k can support these technologies? I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
June 19, 200719 yr Why are you sticking with 2k, by the way? I could have sworn support for 2k stopped a while ago.
