Guest
I was bored, so I made my cartoony self portrait with a sharpy marker and then colored it/slight edits in GIMP. Turned it in to a DevID; Sig version; Yeah.. comments welcomed and such :). Oh BTW, for those who are wondering, Calisthian is my DeviantART name, thus it says Calisthian, as '1525' isn't very font-compadible. Oh, and ya can comment on this too; Azvi made it for me when I asked for a music themed sig. So... yeah... COMMENT! Lol. ~Cal
Azvareth
Why aren't you people commenting? :? Oh yeah, forgot... it's not pixel. Anywho, I personally think it's awesome. At least the drawing, and the background is very effective-looking. I'm loving the hair. However, the drawing seems to be of a rather low quality... that sort of irks me. Text could also need some more work... So yeah... improve the quality and text. :) Nice job, mate. :) // Azvi.
princessa9
Maybe a bit more shading? And could the feet possibly be even? I like the thick lines and coloring. [sig inserted here....in few days]
Punc
Nice work, I like the simple background and the contrast of the dude with it. As said, the font is a bit plain, so try doing someting special with it. don't really like the shoes of the dude thou, they don't really fit with the rest :? Texanboy88
Nice work, i could never draw like that. Like the people above me, it could use some shadowing. Overall i give it an 8/10.
jabraulter
Heh Az, i think you made people fell guilty. But yea, it's true... Anywho, the guy is great, and he looks awesome in the sig. The Music board, drawing a blank on what they're really called, is awesome. Its kinda blurry which makes it look like it's been sitting there for a while, and the orangish color accuentuates the buttons and makes the mood even more.....well i cant eve3n place what kind of mood this is. Overall, 10/10 on both. The second one especially though. the color is awesome and the idea for the sig is.....perfect. i'd buy it in a heartbeat....heh ok bad pun. beat...music...myea ok maybe not. :P
Guest
Wow, thankyou very much for the comments guys :) Azvi, as I explained to you on messenger, the quality is due to the 'enhancement's' I had to do to make it colorable/useable in a sig. If I had a digital pad, it would be easier, but that's just a scanned drawing, so I had to do things to it to make it useable which lowered the quality. As for the coloring, it's low quality because I didn't want quality. I just did it to please myself with a laugh every time I look at my own 'self portrait' in a sig. Oh, and the text is... icky... to match the general ickyness ;) To those who mentioned the shoes; I could have made them perfect, well even in perspective, but I really wanted it to be as cartoony as possible. Hope my oddly shapen feet with variable dimensions are to your amusement :). And yeah, the sig Azvi did for me is beautiful. I will be putting it in to use soon ;) Ooooooh, and just to satisfy people, I am going to try making a better quality version (I'll just do it on a bigger scale so that I can just downsize; the picture in the DevID is about real size of the drawing) with proper shading, better lines, etc. I'm also going to try and do a few cartoon-portrait drawings for a few of my friends if they are willing to fork over a pic if I don't already have one :P. ~Cal
jabraulter
Yea , when you go into PS and import that scanned drawing, set the PHOTOCOPY filter on. it will help to darken the lines and make a more prominent outline. and didn't know az made that for you. so i guess the comments i said about it go to him hehe. :P  EDIT: ohh and i love the text on the siggy. dono why, but it fits with the kinda....how to put it.....'i don't care' look of the guy. and it goes nicely with the star. Guest
Lol ;) I think I said it somewhere in my first post *scratches head* Anyway, I use GIMP :) Unfortunately, I'm a Mac user. Well, at least I got iPod's for my defence :P Apple had to do SOMETHING right. What I did with the lines was; after removing the paper grain by making highlights as light as possible (with the value thingy) I made the lines as dark as possible and turned them to black (I did it orginally with a brown sharpie marker). It still had a few 'impurities', so I just filled it in with the paint bucket (rather makeshift way, I didn't have time to figure out something else). That's where the lines got lowered in quality. Oh, here's the original, untampered drawing (besides the border and the size changed I guess...); http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/13965486/ I'm Done spamming my own thread now :) lol EDIT; Oooh, in the sig/ID, I guass blurred it so that the lines didn't appear so rough and pixelated. ~Cal
