How to get a Computer's Administrator Password?

My dad recently brought home an old computer from his work for my brother. We do know the password to a Non-Administrator account, but not to the Administrator account or an account with Administrative Powers. The computer is a Dell Laptop, Pentium III, running windows XP Office I believe. And help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Maybe ask the company/person who owned the computer first for it? Or was it a donated computer and where it was gotten from is unknown.

It was only used at my Dad's work, but he doesn't know who the Laptop belonged to. It was replaced by a newer laptop at some point and they keep all the old laptops to bring home or whatever else.

I don't know if we are allowed to talk about this kind of stuff here, but search Google for "Windows XP password cracker" or something and you might stumble across something . Scan it for viruses just to be sure also.

you don't need software. start up xp in safe mode and log in as administrator. then go to control panel, user accounts, choose the users profile you want to get access to, the you have the option to change or delete the password. reboot the computer and that will be that.

oops, should have read more carefully. I thought he meant he couldn't access the account with administrative rights.

I was assuming it was like most pc's I deal with, the administrator account only becomes available when booting into safe mode and therefore are very rarely password protected.
