mchainmail
I don't know if this made it in the general forums, but the random has changed. Here is a new pic:
pokemama
Thanks for posting the pic - pics are always TREMENDOUSLY helpful to us! Wanted to check back with you on this, because I've gotten this random in the past two days and mine still had the grey streakiness. I play in Low Detail, does that matter? Or has Jagex "unfixed" this? Or is there something else different about the picture that I am overlooking? Please advise so we can close this out. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*. War_Junky_91
I had the pinball random last week and my camera angle switched views a couple times, most of the time it was clear as in that pic, but once or twice during it if went to a streaky grey so i believe its just the random camera angles
klankaos
I've personally never seen the purple, but I play in low as well. I did get it today, and it seems streaky-grey to me. Being immature is a part of being mature.
book_of_metal
That auctally is part of the improved random. you camrea angle also automatically changes until you have scored your 10 points Check out my 50M+ Blog
pokemama
That auctally is part of the improved random. you camrea angle also automatically changes until you have scored your 10 points It has always done this as far as I know - the streakiness and camera angle changes are meant to try to defeat bots. Which is the purpose of randoms in the first place. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*. mchainmail
I found it wierd that there was no streakiness throughout the entire event for me. I'm not sure if it's always like that, or if it's an on/off thing to confuse bots. I'm 99% sure that the pic is of the low detail version of the game, since I almost never play high detail. darkblade986
I had the event a day or 2 ago and there were the streaks running across my screen. I was playing on High Detail as well if it's relevant (which it seems to be). don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
War_Junky_91
I think its just high vs low detail here, i got one last night (sorry couldnt post then, photobucket was down), i was in high detail The whole time it had streaks ==hope it helps
mchainmail
I just got the event again. Low Detail: High Detail: I have no idea why it's doing this. Also, originally, it was streaky, then it cleaned up after the dialog started. I'm still in the event, just logged out for now.
eyehawk78
I think its just high vs low detail here, i got one last night (sorry couldnt post then, photobucket was down), i was in high detail The whole time it had streaks ==hope it helps  I had the event today and it looked exactly as pictured above, I think the streaky lines are to confuse bots and the fact the camera angle cannot be moved and rotates automatically is designed to confuse them more. On the one with no streaks did the camera move in the same way? Website Updates & Corrections | Website Discussion
mchainmail
yes, it still moved.
darkblade986
Can we get a picture of your in-game options? I have a feeling there might be something there that's doing it... Also, are you using the default client (a.k.a. clicking on High or Low detail at the top straight off) or do you have to change the drop down at the bottom first? And also, what Operating System are you using? Yes, I'm asking a lot of questions about something so little, but it's just nagging me... don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
pokemama
Yeah I feel the same way. It sounds like you are the only one getting it (lol), and yet we all want to know what is different about your setup. Let us know! it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*. mchainmail
update, I just got the event again, this time with the lines. I'm wondering if you click off to stop the MOM's dialogue if that makes any difference.

I'm wondering if you click off to stop the MOM's dialogue if that makes any difference. No, it happens to me still if I do that... I doubt sound would have a difference (I usually have Music-2, all other-4). About the only thing different between me and you is the Operating System (I'm using an old XP version which is just Home edition). It's quite possible it was just lag on your part... And you somehow got it multiple times in a row... don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
Divvy
Just thought I'd give a little of what I've experienced to see if it helps. =3 I've had the random event multiple times, every time in high detail, and sometimes I'll get streaks and sometimes I don't. mchainmail
I guess the conclusion is that the random can happen either way, and it's just random. Assuming that the grey streaks are an overlay, I'm assuming that Jagex found it easy to make a "second" random event to confuse bots. [pokemama 21 Jul: so I think we are agreed that this is a random random, lol? (Incidentally, all of my settings are the same as yours.) I'm going to lock this topic, and if anything new comes up that helps us determine anything, feel free to make a new topic.]
