Is there an age restriction to purchase non-perscription over the counter medicine/drugs/ointments?

I don't think there is. I've never heard of any limits like that.

I have bought non-prescription drugs (aspirin, paracetamol, ibuprofen, rennie) over the counter from about age 12 so probably not.

You should be fine with that. There are a couple of things you can't buy unless your 18. (anything with anphetamines(sp))
