Hai, I'm new here.

 

 

 

My RSN is Bonus Track, I was a level 3 skiller till I got combat. :shame:

 

 

 

I got 99 firemaking at level 3, I am working on 99 hunter. (81 ATM).

 

 

 

AFTER 99 hunter I plan on getting 99 smithing, and I see Miner I is here so I'm wondering:

 

 

 

what is the CHEAPEST way to 99 smithing, with gold ore I will need 231k gold ores which is running up about 112M. (ouch).

 

 

 

So any tips on what I should use. (I don't care if it's slower then gold ore, I want the cheapest. =D>)

A cheap way to raise Smithing is by making Iron Knives. You can buy Iron Bars for about 200GP each, and them smith each bar into 5 Iron Knives.

 

 

 

Each 1,000 Bars will make you 5,000 Iron Knives, which can be sold for 40GP to 45GP. This gives you fast EXP, and you're not making a loss.

 

 

 

Not particularly sure how many you would need, because I couldn't find you on the Smithing Hiscores.

Basically smelting is slower and less XP, while the smithing itself is faster and more XP. So in general if you want to make money: buy ores and smelt, and if you don't mind losing money: buy bars and smith. There are a few exceptions though. As someone said, Iron Knives are fast XP without losing money. For the higher level ores, about the only thing that you can smith and not lose money on right now are bolts.

If you have combat steel plates to 50. Then Superheat for while. At around 1,200 superheats an hour you get 60k+ magic and 30k+ smithing an hour. Not fast, but not bad and breaks pretty even on money.

You can make steel knives at lvl 37 smithing.

Lately, bolts have been selling for very nice prices. Instead of making iron knives, buy the bars and make the highest bolt tip you can. You can also add feathers for very nice fletching exp. I'm not sure if you can still make money this way or not but I think people buy in bulk.

Cannon balls make about 100M from level 63 Which i'm doing but at 12k xp an hour going pure smither is total chaos.

 

 

 

Mith bolts are about 30k xp an hour and will cost u a little bit depends on how the price go.

Smelting bars is the cheapest way, and it will be faster XP and more money than cannonballs. You can make probably 25k XP per hour smelting mithril and then addy bars, and you will make anywhere from 120 to 150 mil in the process, if you use the furnace in Port Phasmatys. You could smelt steel up to level 50, but it might be more worthwhile to simply do Knight's Sword, and then buy enough iron bars to get to level 50, and smith knives and sell them - it should be around 3500 bars. Then just buy mith ore for 400-500ea, coal for 180-200ea, and smelt away. Sell the bars for 1.7kea in batches of 2k or more, and you will rake it in. Once you get to 70 smithing, you can do both mith and addy bars, buying addy ores 1.5-1.8kea. Addy bars are selling for 3.5k or more each.
