Nadril
Its a new surface map i'm working on. now, i'm trying to make this as realistic as posible, and i just need a LOT of c&c on how to make it that way. Onto how i have done this so far: now, most of the work is using the basic terragen surface map controls. BUT, recently i figured if i wished to make a more realistic surface map, i would need to use real textures. So, using the SOPack, i actualy put real textures in adition to the work i did on the map already. Now, don't say "OMg liek you did no work!" Because it still requires work. for one, most textures are too bright for terragen, because it's weird like that with colors. So i had to adjust them in photoshop :D Also, i still have to configure the parrent/child layers for these new textures i added, and also the slope/altitude settings, among others. But anyways, i'm realy just trying to get a nices surface map. I'm realy not interested in a big snowy map, just something that could be used in a realistic render. ps: Don't comment on the atmosphere. I simply let it be the normal one so it would not interfere with the surface map, and the camera angle is there just to kind of show what the surface map can do. And as i said, its a WIP. :) not a final version.
Peter
Looks very nice Nad. I like how your renders are starting to look more realistic as you go. The atmosphere is horrible though :P. If you need I'd be glad to take pictures for textures or whatever, but I don't quite know what you'll be needing, so you'll have to guide me around it. Again, nice job, can't wait to see all of these new maps on a big piece.
jak722
pretty realistic :D nice work! The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.

Well of course it is, i did no work at all to the atmosphere lol :D Later might do a test shot with an old atmosphere or something, see how the surface map can handle it :) And once my msn works i can tell you some stuff I could posibly need :P Thanks jak :)
maxiemumu
Jesus, to me thats as real as you can get. I use bryce 3d and i can't even get that good a look with 300$ programs. My only criticism atm is maybe the texture at the base? I saw the peaks and thought this was an actual picture. It looks like karst (rock) Only 27.. RIP Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Janice Joplin.

Sadly, i lost the exact texture i have here, so i had to make one thats like it but not exactly :( . but its basicly same thing i have saved. Thanks again, i made a new peice that i will render tonight with the surface map :)
tttia
Looks pretty decent. I am not sure about the moss/grass. Otherwise I like the general texture etc. Perhaps if you could adjust the lvls a bit to see a little more of what it will actually look like... Yeah, it does seem like the grass is a bit overpowered by the othesr stuff :) I'll try that.
