The thing is, i actually do 3d renders and abstract the LEAST of all the art types i do, currently im doing alot of photography and sketching; Im not all 3d renders and [cabbage]. Lol

Some people are thick; nobody posted this to say that Tipit was better than RSC or whatever you call it. Is that the one that was owned by W13 back in the day? The old Zybez community? I was one of the first 30 or so members of that community, and I remember that pictures and signatures were played very harshly on, and you could only usually find one or two media posts over in offtopic. But as I have heard, alot has changed as of recent.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There is a strong difference between technical skill and artistic ability. Educate me on how to build a house and I will do it. But don't ask for your dream home or a mansion. The idea in this analogy is simple; although with enough learning and technical skill you can make the "coolest" 3D render and pile alot of [cabbage]ty brushes on top of it, that doesn't mean you can accurately convey a good idea. Don't get me wrong, this isn't directed at the banned guy (forgot his name), but everyone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think a problem with alot of artists today (I use the term "Artist" loosely) is that they aren't really artists, they are technical designers. There is a strong difference here, at least in my mind. I know I was raised on traditional types of art, which is why I can use Prismas and other medias so well. However, I think alot of todays artists are just (excuse me for this huge stereotype) kids who are computer nerds and see something that looks cool, and try their best to reproduce it. Although artistic skill does develop, I feel that it's something you develop when you are very young, once you get a certain age it becomes very difficult to teach. Some people just don't have it. Sorry, move on.

I've known Alex since he started posting here ages ago, and he always had a good eye for things. He's very good in 3D and is a good technical designer; I've never seen anything that screams "artist" to me, though. In fact I'd like to see some more involved 3D models, most of them look kinda messy?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Firefreek is one of the few exceptions, he does have strong artistic skill, and sometimes chooses to waste time making 3D abstracts (:lol:). Can't blame him for that, everyone gets burnt out once and a while. But based on the work posted by Resket (and my knowledge of FF) I'd say that he is your crown jewels.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kimmy has good work based on those 2 vectors, but it really isn't difficult to do. Sorry but I'm not impressed, give me an hour in Illustrator and I could produce something exactly the same. I can't really tell what Swift is doing, as his work doesn't impress me, based on those 2 signatures.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I hate playing the "who's better" game, but I honestly think there is more pure talent here, than there is over there (again, based on the work posted). I have yet to find someone who can illustrate as well as MrX, design as well as Wyrm, conceptualize as well as Witty, or show as much diversity as DementedHero, etc etc... I think if you really compare and combine everything, I'd say we've got an edge on you.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For what it's worth though, FF, I do think you are an excellent artist, and I did miss you on my previous list. Just haven't seen you in a while to remind me of you.

Alex is the guy who started this post. A simple comparison of the two boards bears that out rather clearly. He makes tons of accounts here, probably using proxies to avoid the ip bans, and has probably been banned more than any other person in the history of scape/tip. I wouldn't say everyone agrees with me. But you obviously just did on the number of times you were banned. And you pretty much concede that you started the post. To be honest, I only signed up at tip.it back in march 2003 or whatever because I heard that sigs sold for ridiculous money and I wanted in on the action. Saw that tip.it had a GFX group and then that turned into my sole reason for coming here. Then it died and I quit RS and that was the end of my coming here so that's why I've not been around.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You guys definitely have the edge when it comes to traditional art but we have to remember that this is the internet and the majority of work is digital. I'm not saying that we are better than you or you are better than us, I think that digital art is where the real battle lies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We've got some good artists but unfortuantly we had better artists in the past .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I don't see this as a competetive battle where people will put 'LOL TIP.IT OWNZ RSC' in their sigs or whatever if they win. I see this as a friendly event between 12-20 artists. Obviously there is going to be some desire to win because ultimately it is Zybez vs Tip.It, the age old fued but this should be more about art than about rival forums fighting to see who has the best artists. If one forum wins, it won't automatically make everybody who frequents that forum a better artist than everybody who is active on the other forum, this is a battle for personal pride.

i was bored, and i was experimenting with making textures in C4D and HDRI Images and render settings... the model took me bout 5min, the rendering w/texturizing took me like 2 hours. For your next Birthday present :P

1. By best people seem to be looking at the most recognized, which I personally don't have a problem with.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

- The reason that I don't have a problem is that the great GFX makers don't deem tip.it "worth the post." By this, I mean that this is a game forum and the great GFX makers, if anywhere, post their work in purely graphics forums, where people who share a love of the art view their work and give real input (justifications for comments and whathaveyou).

 

 

 

- In addition, people who I would consider the 'great' "GFX Makers in Tip.It" are those who not only submit great works and have a huge talent, but they are additionally those who help others to create great artwork and accept their critics on these boards. It takes an artist to paint a stunning picture, but it takes a Great artist to share their methods.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. The fact of the matter is that most of the work posted on this board is made to be viewed by people without much sense of the craft. People buying signatures just want it to "look cool," one example being the fact that almost every pixel signature request, as many people will corroborate, is for the same basic scene. Even those of immense talent such as MisterXMan generally don't put their best efforts into their jobs on the forum, Only enough that it "looks cool." The reason can be seen in works like those Fox Red made, which were immensely detailed and yet only found above average prices.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To sum it up, I have no problem with this search for the most recognized GFX makers on tip.it, I simply feel that those seen as best are those who market their work best (and yes I know that comment is off my line of earlier comments).

MisterXMan.. Awesome at hand drawings, great pixel artist.

 

 

 

TJ.. Incredible pixel artist, original concepts.

Keiphus.. Amazing, well-rounded graphics designer.

 

 

 

IDPUP.. Great animator.

 

 

 

DementedHero.. Insanely detailed and skilled pixel artist.

 

 

 

Wyrm.. Long-time pro graphics artist with a simplistic yet stunning style.

 

 

 

Azvareth.. Amazing scenes.

 

 

 

Princessa.. Incredible skill and detail.

 

 

 

Entangle.. One of the first major 3d object realism sig makers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Those are all that I can think of, since I was too busy for games during the bulk of the GFX art.

This is a topic about the best GFX designers in RS... NOT TIPIT.

Thanks for the gift Alex. But you could have at least rendered it! It is a premade model with a few things tacked onm, as you admitted on rsc....the packaged one from cinema 4d. (Of course you only admitted it after they pointed it out.... But hey, you were nice. I got you a gift too. Painted on a really basic poser model.
