tttia
There is a free program being heavily advertised on Deviant art that allows you to use their propriety models, import poser and bryce models, and create 3d scenes. I have never used bryce or poser, would be interesting to see how this compares. The overall business model is that they provide the program for for free, along with a basic content package, then sell you other models online to actually make their money. Not a bad idea...we will just have to see if it works. Of course...with some free poser models out there...might be a challenge. Fortunately for trhem most free poser models are considerably lower quality than the pay ones. I managed to load and pose their free low res female model. It worked just fine..a bit tedious, but you can get the pose you are looking for. Of course, I should warn folks that 3d models are generally nude until you import clothing. http://www.daz3d.com/studio/?refid=434555619
Nadril
yeah i saw that while browsing their site for no apparent reason few weeks ago  . It seems interesting, i might try it later, just because it might be fun to make a character and manip it in photoshop :P
tttia
Did this in it: Took the free basic model then painted it :) I don't seem to have good hardware open gl support so I got a cruddy software render (the wifey has the good video card). But the final came out pretty well. Took about 30 minutes playing around in the program to figure things out, then about 4 hours to paint. I just put the suit on to post it, I plan to make it into figleaves for an adam and eve in the garden of eden scene later. The program is fun, a bit like terragen though...all sliders and premade stuff. But like terragen it is what you do with it afterward that is important. Nadril
^^ And may i add, there is a lot to do in terragen. Not alot of people understand that, but it is hard to make a good looking piece (I'm talking about atmosphere wise and surface map mostly) for it. But hey, i might try that thing out. Looks preaty nice :D
tttia
Yes there is a lot to do in it, and I suppose the same could be said for poser/daz. But it is still not the same as hands on work.
Keiphus
Terragen is weak... I could make landscapes in XSI just as good, not that hard at all. Sure a terragen master might be able to make something nicer, but I have much more control and power, so an intermediate XSI user can own an excellent Terragen user. Terragen is severly weak especially without the ability to do overhangs and more dynamic land formations. I'm looking forward to Terragen2, hopefully it's alot better. tttia
Here are some gallery shots of what people are doing with daz. Most of them are buying advanced texture packs so they don't really use much post processing. http://www.daz3d.com/galleries/index.php?cat=
Jaguar_Kings
Wow, nice one. I'm gonna try the program too. BTW what did you use to paint it??

Yes Terragen at the moment is preaty weak compared to other programs. I like it mostly because its cheep (the registered version is realy cheep compared to other programs) And it still works well for its price i think. I also belive that terragen 2 will be MUCH better. I've been reading about it, it will have "volumetric clouds" (sp?) among plants/trees/much improved water , ect. ect. so it should be amazing. Sadly for me it will also be more expensive :( Anyways... sorry for going a tad off topic in your post tttia  EDIT: And overhangs, i'm guessing like caves? Well i've seen people do that before... but it needed a bit of post-processing too sadly :( I remember seeing how to get it good on some terragen site, never tried it though. Ryan
I've been so scared about mentioning anythign about poser here. People would get free 3d models of knights, wizards and such and abuse them. Heard of daz for a long time so nothing new for me...

Despaxes
i just downloaded it to heck it out.....how do you get it after itsdownloaded (find it?) i cant  thanks everyone for the sigs!
tttia
go to the download link again. Select save to disk. Then just see where you put it in the file structure. Cancel the download and go find it :) While we might resent premade models there is nothing illegal about them. They are not a copyright violation. If you hate 3d models you should hate terragen and bryce even more (yes I know you can do some modeling with bryce, but its primary use is prefab landscapes)
