Tell your dad to shape his arce up. He needs to step up and support you guys. But I would suggest having a night out with your mom every once in a while just to take stress off her. It might sound lame but it might be the best thing for her right now.

 

 

 

I try to spend time with her when I can. We go tanning, shopping, and other little things together quite a bit. And I know that sentence made me sound like a girl, but I just get along with my mom that way. Shopping is like a drug for my mom and I don't mind seeing if American Eagle or Hollister have any new t-shirts. And tanning.. Well it's getting cold here and I can't stand looking like a ghost :?

 

 

 

If your dad has been unemployed for 3 years I wouldn't follow his "life plan" for you because look where his got him.

 

 

 

Yeah, I never liked his plan anyways. He basically wanted me to use my natural talent for any sport I play to get me a scholorship and then go pro. I'll say I'm good at the sports I play, but I'm not college/pro good. He wants me to spend my free time practicing. I suppose I can see this more realistically than him, because I'm not going to waste my teenage years trying so hard for something that just isn't going to happen. I don't remember the odds of actually becoming a pro athlete, but the odds are against me like no other. I like playing for fun, but going pro isn't going to happen.

 

 

 

Sounds like your mum needs to change jobs at the least.

 

 

 

I'm sure she would if she could. But if she quits her current job, the family business goes down the drain. Even though the business isn't doing great, it at least makes sure we can eat every day and helps a little with the bills..

 

 

 

I don't know a whole lot about Fibromyalgia, but I do know one of the symptoms is severe fatigue. On top of that, another symptom is sleeping disorder (not trouble falling asleep, but trouble staying in deep sleep cycles, because of bursts of brain activity). Between running a business and a family, I'm sure she's tired as hell (heck, that's tiring for someone without a chronic disease). If you are concerned (and it sounds like you sincerly are), do what you can to help alleviate some of her workload (either helping out at their business if possible or simply around the house). Also, talk to her about it...express your concerns and ask what you can do to help. If nothing else, I'm sure she'll be touched by your concern and desire to help, which in itself may be helpful simply by reminding her that someone cares.

 

 

 

Yeah, the sleeping thing is a BIG problem for her. She's been on at least 4 different medications for that alone that I know of. And she's laying down right now, not sleeping, just resting. She's been doing this a LOT over the past 2 or so months.

My mother has a manager position on a fairly large company that sells electricity. A bit more than a year and a half back, she became too sick to work. Pain, nausea, problems concentrating, and a loss of words among other things. She was, months later, diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and takes a number of medicines for it today.
