October 12, 200718 yr I am going for 85 smithing by smelting and smithing steel bars. Would it be in my interest to use the varrock armor to try and get double bars or should i go to the blast furnace and use half as many coal? Please also give me a figure on which one would be more time effective as well. Thank you very much!

October 12, 200718 yr i dont know too much about blast furnace, but it is far from a bank, so banking it wouldnt be worth the time. I would personally just smelt them in port phasmatys or edgeville with the armour on then smith them in varrock west. good luck :)
October 12, 200718 yr Author ok... i may just test the varrock armor because I am lvl 3 and alching is out of the question. If that does not work well i will most likely try mithril then at the blast furnace thank you! (mithril so that I can sell the stuff at the store)

What you get is that sometimes it will smelt 2 bars at once. But it also uses 2 sets of ores. It just occasionally lets you smelt more quickly; it doesn't magically give you an extra bar.
