The hilt will determin the special attack and such and casn be attached to the blade. Hilts range from 40-150M for different ones. Then you can buy one of the god hilts and attach it to the blade which doesn't require any smithing. That's why the hilts are really close to the full swords in price. Even the generals drop shards, but only the bosses drop hilts.
