wioneo
You could always buy steel bars at 600-620ea and sell cannonbalss at 200ea for a profit for 200-180gp per bar. This would be extremely slow, but profitable. kgisme
Or, you could make steel plates by: -mining your own iron and coal -smelting your own bars (with a furnace) -making the bars into steel plates -high alching the plates using nats you craft yourself that way you will have spent no money and will make 1.2k per plate... This is how I do all my smithing and yes, it's very slow. However, it makes you a profit and you can train mining, smithing, rc and magic all at once \
kiellando
Kgisme, where is the best place for mining iron? Also, I might have a useful solution: Use kingdom management to buy coal for 91gp ea, meanwhile mine iron, make steel bars, then plates, make your own nats, high alc, you make 200gp per steel bar, plus it saves mining coal. E.G. : Kingdom management till 10k coal, this is 910k - Mine your 5k iron - Make bars - Smith plates (1k of them in this case) - Make your 1k nats - High alc your plats In this case you will make 190k profit, provided you bought pure essence for 100gp ea, and will get 275k smithing xp Total Cost: 1010K Total High Alc: 1200k Total Profit: 190k
transcript80
There's always the option of the mining/smithing companies. The idea is that they supply the raw materials, and you trade them back either bars or in some cases cannon balls + some gp. Look at the market place smithing subforum. It is a good option if you you dont want to buy stuff, you can do it in small quantities (min 500 bars or so) and, depending on the company, they are always online and eager to make the trade. * off/topic: yay 1k posts! vleademir
I'm surprised no one said that earlier, thanks for bringing that to my attention. P.S. Gratz on 1,000 posts!
cat666
Buy 13,500 mith ore at 450 each. Buy 54,000 coal for 180 each. Buy 13,500 nats for 290 each. Superheat into 13,500 mith bars. Sell for 1.4k per bar. 405,000 smithing exp(and 715,500 magic exp) for 810,000 gp lose. I just got 68 to 72 smithing like this. Superheated a bit under 1,000 bars an hour. Quite possibly a bad idea, but oh well. This works out at a profit if you do things a bit differently. *If you scrap the mage aspect totally and use a furnace you will make 230gp per bar sold. *If you craft you own nats you will make 130 per bar sold (100 for ess) *You can get coal via the MTK minigame. I am unsure on figures but this would get you a fair bit of coal per week for a discount price. Trust the Gene Genie!
