Fake E mails

Featured Replies

Lately I seem to be getting a lot of fake e- mails, saying stuff like 'You have been invited to become a player moderator' etc. I opened one, and was wondering, is it a possibility that there could be a keylogger attached to the e - mail?, and if so how would I go about identifing and getting rid of it? Any help is much appreciated :)

A possibility?

they ALWAYS contain a keylogger or direct you to a site where you have to 'typ your password to upgrade to modship' or similar crap

Well I don't think you can get one by opening it but if you press the link you can.

I'm a player moderator. If you are asked to become one, a message will appear in your Runescape Inbox from a Jagex modeator. Messages that come from websites to your email may be viruses or scams to get your password and other data off your computer.

I am not a mod... :D

Opening mail will usually not get you keyloggers, unless they are VERY VERY VERY advanced hackers, and if they were, they'd just hack your computer and plant the keylogger.

Opening mail is safe, opening attachments in mail or external websites can infect your computer with malicious content.

My goals:
5M coins: 4350K+ coins 200k+ items - 2 dec
5M coins - 16 dec
I have gotten my 5M by christmas.

-bah this is only here for historical purposes now, I got 20m+ already

"fail, well atleast the title,i wont read it with that colours"

"If you hadn't posted in rainbow I would actually give this a proper read"

"Colours suck."

*I remove colours*

"Where did all the colors go!? This is now 40% more likely to be tl;dr'd due to the lack of colors."

Block all those addresses from emailing you ever again and if you feel inclined, email Jagex about these "rogue" websites so that their legal team can shut them down. I can't be certain about the legal team shutting down those websites but definitely block those addresses.
