Duke_Freedom
Interesting...I bought my purple in September for 164M, sold it a week ago for 160M. Now they're down to like 100M or something (or maybe it's just lots of fake posts...) :-s They are still above 150mil, if they would be 100mil now then there would be some massive panic going on. The value of my bank at its height. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 250 billion+.Most likely the largest trade in RuneScape ever. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 70 billion+.
Animaslayer
I think that yes rares will take a deep price lowering, but in the end they have to rise in price. :-k I mean theres never going to be more of the rare, the only thing that could change the amount of them is if ppl who own them quit w/o passing them on. :shame: meaning a higher price with being less in supply... hmm good thinking Dragon Drops: Platelegs x9, Med Helms x7, Plateskirts x4, Shield Left Half x3, At least 75+ Boots!, Hatchets x5, Ruined Shard x1, Solo Claws x2, Dragon 2Hander x1, Spear x2Whip x27, Dark Bows x9, Draconic Visage x1 <- do that when you see me :P
qeltar
I've got an empty soda can on my desk here with a really neat dent in it. I'm sure it's completely unique -- the only one of its kind in the world. Why, it must be worth millions! Discontinued items are a classic example of the "greater fool theory" -- some guy pays 200 mil for an item with no stats because he hopes he can sell it to an "even greater fool" for 210 mil. This builds up a huge bubble that is only waiting for a pin[puncture]. And we got one on Monday. Everyone always assumes that they can "only go up". Well, people said the same thing about dot.com stocks in 1999. The prices of nearly everything are going to be going down, as all the big money trading and so forth is flushed from the game. I'm sure some will always want rares, but it is reasonable to believe their prices will continue to lower. And maybe, just maybe, one day people will wake up and realize that there's nothing particularly impressive about an overpriced paper hat, and this fad will go the way of the dodo as it should. meili
Not sure what the exact effect will be. A lot of rich players did quit so that will have some effect. Rares have been taken out of circulation as well since the players who quit will not be trading theirs either forever or for some time. Also, those who quit have put their money in rares thinking these will go up in time so when they get back in Rs in a year they will still have assets. amitoz
well i say RS is dead. Il probably stick around for the summoning update, and then quit soon after. Killing the wild was too far, drop partys are dead. Christmas gifts are gone. STEEL WARS are gone... Pking is gone Staking is gone Skilling is gone Prices are going to drop even worse than the Duel Update Lending items is gone Pures are useless completely now Every skill is pointless now basically Risk is non existent And soo much more "Pures are useless completely now" That's a good thing, most pures broke most rules. Come to my Clan chat (I'm there if I'm online) if you wish to borrow a Green H'ween mask, Blue H'ween Mask, Red H'ween Mask, or Santa for a reasonable price. magekillr
One more thing: Even if GE stays like this (within 5%) there could be some problems. Say, the update happened right now: Atm, no one is buying their rares at the GE. The prices are waay behind. My red party hat is around 254M over there (Min 241M), while people are selling them on the forum for 220M or lower (not sure, not many red phat trades). If this update would happen now, people would be forced to buy them for 241M, at least. I dont know how long it takes for the GE to adapt, but if GE prices arent matching "real" prices, the january update could bring some serious trouble. This isnt only applying for rares of course. it's why i'm holding onto my blue :) that and i don't care if they're untradable...i want it for the hat :-w

I met a 40 def pure who has all other stats at 1. He stakes and wins in f2p duels since he has full rune as opposed to iron or steel at level 18.
