41-70 Smithing

I'd like to know what is the quickest route for doing 41-70 Smithing. I'd figure it would be Steel bars but wasn't 100% sure. I do not have access to Gold Gauntlets.

 

 

 

I was also told, a while back, doing Steel Bars -> Steel Plates -> High Alch was a great way but I noticed that Alch value of Plates were 1.2K but bars were now around 500-600 each. What is the current best way to level, f2p or p2p; doesn't matter.

Very fastest is steel bars-->plates. Other option sinclude same thing with iron bars(slightly cheaper, but slower), smelting iron ore with ROF's, steel bars(slow, but gain money), and c-balls(very slow, but gain lots of money)

That means I'd have to make 3.7K Steel Plates. Do they sell decently because that's alot of 'junk' I don't want to be stuck with .. and alchemy would lose money.

They will *Not* sell on the ge, its way overpriced. Before the update they were going for about 1k ea in bulk, so you're still losing money.

So, based if I purchased all the Steel Bars at 550 each, I'd take a 10m hit in my pocket. There has the be a better way? I don't care about making money; I just don't want to lose an ample amount at one time.

For levels 41-70, I made iron knives until level 53 and then I made iron knives and mithril bolts until 70. I would make like 10kish mith bolts, and then as I was selling those (took a bit of time), I would make iron knives.

 

 

 

I was able to break almost completely even (might have made a bit of cash) in the process and never smelted once...

 

But I have heard that with tons of deflation now, both of my methods wouldn't be possible or would probably cost money...

What is the GE price of mith bars? Bolts?

 

What is the GE price of iron bars? Knives?

 

Does the price of a mith bar / 10 = the price per bolt?

 

Does the price of an iron bar / 5 = the price per knive?

 

 

 

 

 

Oh, and about speed... I did this way under 3 days time IIRC

So from 41-70 Smithing, I could make 139K Iron Knives.

 

 

 

27,756 Iron Bars @ 200 each = 5.55m

27,756 Iron Bars = 138,780 Iron Knives

138,780 Iron Knives @ 25 each = 3.47m

Total Loss = Roughly 2m

 

 

 

This isn't as bad as 10m, but might take a bit longer to do.

 

 

 

 

 

If I decided to go with Mith Bolt @ 53, this is what it'd look like:

 

 

 

41-53 Smithing = 18,570 Iron Knives.

53-70 Smithing = 120,210 Mith Bolts.



3,714 Iron Bars @ 200 each = 742,800

3,714 Iron Bars = 18,570 Iron Knives

18,570 Iron Knives @ 25 each = 464,250

12,021 Mith Bars @ 1.2K each = 14.43m

12,021 Mith Bars = 120,210 Mith Bolts

120,210 Mith Bolts @ 80 each = 9.62m

Total Loss = Roughly 5.09m

 

 

 

Not too much of a difference, if it is quite a bit faster.

 

 

 

 

 

Anyone else have any other suggestions? And where is the best place to smith in F2P? And P2P for low-leveled skillers?

I'm level 3 and I used the anvil by the Varrock west bank (p2p and f2p). I think it is the fastest, except for maybe another, but IIRC it has an undoable quest requirement for a level 3.

 

 

 

Oh, and yea, the mith bolts would be TONs faster - you get 50 exp per 10 bolts made (1 bar) as compared to 25 exp per 5 knives made (also 1 bar)...

 

Basically, it's twice as fast because the time to smith mith and iron is the same.

Well, I'm a mage pure (10hp) so I can do some quests that lvl3 skillers cannot. I also have extra advantage with Recoils + Curse against certain monsters if need be. Based on those skills, is there a quest I can do that'll make a better location or should I stick with Varrock?

I looked into it a bit and Varrock west is the best, with Yanille somewhat close behind

 

I thought there was an anvil that was good from the Ghosts Ahoy quest, but that's just a furnace

From what I remember, Yanille is actually best. It's 1 step closer to bank.

 

Doesn't really matter so use whichever.

I got my smithing to 60 with a lot of iron plates. I did it all F2P, which in my opinion is pretty good since I ended up ruining almost 50% of all my iron ore :wall:

 

 

 

But iron ores are much better than steel bars. I'll do the math. Please note I am assuming that you will be using a Ring of Forging for the iron, ok?

 

 

 

1 iron bar = 1 iron ore = ~100 gp = 12.5 exp

 

1 steel bar = 1 iron ore & 2 coal = ~500 gp = 17.5 exp

 

 

 

So..................

 

 

 

1000 iron bars= 12.5 exp x 1000 = 12.5k exp

 

1000 x 100 gp = ~100k

 

So.. 12.5k exp= 100k

 

 

 

1000 steel bars = 17.5 exp x 1000 = 17.5k exp

 

1000 x 500 gp = 500k

 

So.. 17.5k exp= 500k

 

 

 

So, which do you think is worth it? I rest my case :D
