Runescape Timeline

Featured Replies

Wouldn't it be cool if there was an accurate timeline about all the events that have shaped, and molded Runescape to what it is today? Not just big things, like the knife bug, to P2P coming out.

Well, theres always the library of Varrock, but I know that doesnt cover that kinda event, anywho, I'm a bard, ask me about em!

Arr, Back when I were a lad, there used to be a gapin' 'ole in them thar dwarven mines...

Well, I mean an un-official Timeline, with events that Jagex doesn't want people to know (IE: dupeing).

I know at one point a couple players knew mod commands and could do some very bad things.

You also used to be able to range as fast as you could click your mouse.

I know of 2 people that duped hundreds of thousands of death runes.

There was a pretty mean prayer bug that had to do with shadow spiders somehow you prayer never drained not sure how that worked it was used in the wild a lot though.

The first mass banning of 3000 characters who used [Caution: Hack-Scam Site] or [ForbiddenSite] whichever it was.

Of course the pink party hat disaster when those were duped

Lobster certs were duped by the hundreds of thousands as well.

That's all i can think of atm

Knife bug? Please elaborate

it was aaaaaaaalllllllllllllllonnnnnng time ago when you drop a rune and click it really fast and click the knife and it will let you wield it.

people would go out to the wild and 1 hit people with 50's

incorrect all the duped phats and stuff stayed because jagex had no way of telling which where.

And where not wasting time searching them out when they where trying to get rs2 launched.

also not 3000 was 900 banned and was called [ForbiddenSite].

... Okay, now:

1) Not ALL the phats stayed, the did delete some and there is proof of people who had just picked up a pink phat after the dupers made a bunch and dropped them in varrock west, the next time the players logged in the phats were simply gone

2) There were multiple bans, go back through all the updates and see for yourself. One titles is "Cheating Scum Banned!" and later in the news you will see "More Cheating Scum Banned!" I believe the second one was 3000 people

...

I did

12th December 2002 - Cheating scum banned

If you cheat at RuneScape you will be banned. We have very advanced detection routines, and we can tell if you use programs to control your character for you. We've just banned over 400 players for cheating in this way. Many of whom were high level members.

2nd January 2004 - More cheating scum banned

We've just permanently banned 957 players, for cheating and using macro software to automatically play the game for them.

so no not 3000 ty

Also I know some people who picked up those that where dropped and to my knowledge none of them vanished. (tho many no longer play rs)

Also prior to this not listed was a ban of 250 i believe it was.

no the knife bug is not listed

and updates being posted was july 10th 2002.

just under 3 yrs ago.

It was 3000 and where did I say the party hats were taken out?

Let's do it. I'd love to take over a project like this, if you don't mind lunchbox.

I have heard the rumor of 3000 banned forever.

900 and some been the most banned since i have played rs since april 1st 2001.

and I already proved not since july 10th 2002 there has not been 3000 banned.

The other 250 banning, or around there, was when they changed to the soft/hard rock sytem where the rock lost the ore after being mined.

Prior to this the rock did not run out of ore, and people would set up a hotkeys marco and just stand there and mine the same rock logged on for a 48 hr period till they had 99 mining. And if they had banned 3000 at that time, they would have been banning 75% of the accounts on rs.

Also i miss-read ur statement as dissapeared instead of disaster.

In a following statement zonda, stated they dissappeared, and that is who that was ment for.

I was amazed when I read about it.

I thought, "Sheesh, that must be almost all of the RSC players!"

The RSC news is a little bit harder to keep up with...

I stand corrected.

Never read any of the rsc news since rs2 came out.

Wonder why they listed it in rsc link instead of the news.

Funny since i checked and aus, notier, and lego still had theres.

Oh and key who still plays can get on and show u her pink party hat from the varrock dupe drop.(tho now purple in rs2)
