My problem is similar. See, I am Muslim, and when people find that out they think "oh, he's not a terrorist. He's an exception to the rule". While the dont think I'm a terrorist, they think my Muslim brothers are! None of the Muslims that I know even look like the stereotypical terrorist.

 

 

 

 

 

Funny story: This conservative catholic friend of mine almost freaked out when she learned my middle name is Hussein...as in I was named after Saddam Hussein. :roll:

No, but my point is they are targeting not only the conservative Muslims but the more..."westernized"...(not sure how to put it). I understand that some Muslims (SOME) have some twisted beliefs, but pretty much 100% of them come from the Middle Eastern background. And that is where I see the stereotype come in. Hey, I didn't make it; I just observe it.

There is certainly discrimination against people within the Middle East (mainly due to the association of Islam with Terrorists with the Middle East. It's [cabbage], and we need to educate people that discrimination is wrong - ALL FORMS. Sadly, because of events such as September 11, Islam has had a tainted image (thanks to some extremists) which people often conform to.

But he has a point though, why do America and the UK have so much racism compared to other western countries, such as most European nations? (Which coincidentally always score above the US and UK in learning excercises, sciences, mathematics and languages?)

&Because they are more educated and intelligent to know about a people instead of just spitting out sterotypes(unknown=fear).
