I did it in paint, so its not all that great. Please tell me what i should put in the backround and any other suggestions that may help. (Notice that its me carrying logs right after killing a tree spirit that got in my way)

well, it obviously needs a background. Without it, it looks really bad, but with it, it'll look a lot better. Take the extra time, it needs it.

I think you should add trees in the background, old gnarly trees would look really cool. use earty colours which don't steal the picture and maybe make the character and tree spirit even more colourful to stand out from the BG.

It's pretty nice, but needs a background.. I see a tree spirit so make the background like you're in a wood.

evergreen tree's would look good for the back ground, i like the shading on the legs and boots but its kinds leaning toward the gradient side, try avoiding going completely black or white in any shading (cept glare or shadows and some other acceptions...)

The light source seems to be coming from the right. But it dosnt match the shading on the hatchet and the thing that's too dark to see. The top of the arm should be lighter and if the light source is from the right, the face should be darker on the left and light on the right, not dark from the neck and lighter near the top. Otherwise your on the right track.
