Wizard robes have a magical aura surrounding them, which gives magic bonus but slightly protects other magic attacks.

Melle armour has melle defence.

 

Range armour has range defence.

 

Magic armour has magic defence.

 

 

 

Sometimes it doesn't have to make sense if it infringes on game play. How fun the game is more important than how realistic it is.
