Barrows For Lower Levels

1.0 Introduction

Welcome to my guide on how to complete your first run and carry on from there, making a profit from barrows even if you dont get too many items! Before I start I would like to point out that I don't want any comments along the lines of: "lol u noob i use 1 p pot per run loser noob", because this is my method, I make 700k a day and im more than happy doing it this way. Now onto the guide...

3.0 Requirements

Now to complete barrows my way you will need a few things completed:

Desert Treasure

In Search of the Myreque

55 slayer

50 Construction

43+ Prayer

So first of all make sure you have a kharryl portal in your house, so you can get to canifis nice and quick, which requires desert treasure complete. Then make sure "In Search of the Myreque" is done as otherwise you cant cross that nifty bridge or use the good old pub tunnel. 55 slayer is essential for slayer dart, which wastes 5 of those brothers and will replenish your runes lost, around 70% of the time.An altar in your house is nessacary too. EDIT: For people that have not yet obtained 55 slayer, use either fire blast or wind wave, wind wave is prefered if you can afford the bloods, but fire wave costs the same as slayer dart.

Now your invent should look something like this:

aV3pT5S9.jpg

Red: 2 prayer potions per run, so roughly 11k per trip wasted.

Green: ONE emergency prayer pot, incase you get a nasty tunnel.

Light Blue: Your range gear to thrash Ahrim with.

Dark Blue: Err...try getting into a tomb without this...

Grey: House Teleports!

Orange: 30 extra spells, just incase things dont go as planned.

Now here is what you should be wearing, this is a template and can be mixed around and changed based on what you already own/can afford!

aV3pVXsr.jpg

Helm Space: Farseer, Mystic, Initiate

Amulet Space: Fury, Glory, Magic

Cape: God Cape, Skill Cape, Ledgends Cape

Arrow Space: Rune arrows, Ruby Bolts (e)

Chest Space: Ahrim's Robetop, Mystic Top, Monk Robes

Leg Space: Ahrim's Bottoms, Mystic Bottoms, Monk Robes

Shield Space: Dragonfire Shield, Prayer book, Rune Kite

Gloves and Boots Space: Mystic boots and gloves

Ring: Seers Ring OR a ring of life

Weapon Space: Slayer Staff OR A fire staff

4.0 Getting to Barrows

To start off, Get to your house and recharge your prayer:

aV3pY_wr.jpg

Then run over to your Canifis Portal and jump into it!

aV3pZts9.jpg

When you arrive in Canifis, restock your supplies (if coming from a run) or get your wagon around that pub and through the trapdoor! Run through the wall (Sounds weird,eh?) and over to the doors leading to mort myre swamp. Then run to the bridge which should be behind you, and get going straight until you see the little transportation arrow...Get in that boat! Here's a map for the people who need a visual aid:

Pq34HDmr.jpg

So just follow the red line, then the blue and your there!

5.0 So Just who are these pink Devils?

The Barrows Brothers are six ancients soldiers, who led their forces to victory and were the best fighters in the land. There key to success was their armour, which was unique in its own special way (i.e. some cool effects) and this effect would dazzle enemies during battle. So I will now give your a run through on these brothers (NOT the order we fight them) and where abouts you can find them...

Verac

aV3q38N0.jpg

Well basically unless you have 90+ defence you will learn to despise this guy. He hits through your prayer and armour. He hits massive hits on mystic when he jumps on you during the tunnel and wears a skirt. Just protect from Melee and slayer dart this fellow to death...again and again and again.

Dharok

aV3q4C4i.jpg

Everyone has watched a Dharok max-hit video on youtube, or seen people annialating the poor fellows in the tzhaar with this warriors armour on. Well to be honest - he is probably the easiest of the lot. All you have to do is make sure you ALWAYS have protect from melee on from the moment you click your spade, to the moment his knee's start to bend towards the ground...Otherwise he will hit 50+ on you. :D

Torag

Pq34K9_A.jpg

An easy brother who will annoy you greatly. You take a dose and start to fire away, and as he is on 15 health, and you hit a zero (followed by him hitting around 5 of them) he will hit a 23 and die.Always. Otherwise he is a massive noob, but his armour sure is pretty!

Guthan

aV3q6IgS.jpg

Guthan is a funny old chap, as he doesnt seem to hit high too often, but heals when he does. One dose does the job, but he can require another if he starts healing when it runs out.

Karil

aV3q7dHJ.jpg

Karil is a dangerous foe and will ravage you and your mystic without prayer, so it is wise to do so. Many people will tell you melee'ing him is better, but I tryed that for 34 runs and it takes an extra does if you have under 75 in all melee area's. So just waste him with your dart.

Ahrim

Pq34LgQA.jpg

Put on your clean, sweat and rip free dragonhide, your bow and selected helmet, hit the spec button (or wish the rune xbow had a spec button) and dig in. Take one dose first and this guy is toast. If he starts hitting big on you don't panic, just take another dose and finish him.

6.0 What Order and Completing your Run

As soon as you arrive at the mounds you will see about 6 lumps poking out of the ground, each one containing a brother. I have stolen a useful map off tip.it (thankyou) to show you guys where these fellows are:

aV3t1f_9.jpg

Dharok

IN THE MOUND: So head off to dharok's mound, tell saradomin to protect you from melee, and dig in! Never ever take off protect from melee, but you shouldnt have to dose in here as he is killed so quickly. Then run up the stairs.

IN THE TUNNEL: The SAME strategie, just pot up and fight, but watch your prayer points in here as you have to mess around for a bit at the beginning of the fight

NOTE: I can provide a few pictures of SOME of the brothers, just to give you an idea of what the place looks like.So here is my pretty picture of dharok:

aV3t5pU9.jpg

Then head over to verac's mound and re dose if you are under 30 prayer remaining. Go in and follow my instructions:

Verac

IN THE MOUND: This fellow is slightly annoying as once in a while he will hit through your prayer, and believe me it adds up, so DONT go and check out your blog while fighting this pink fellow! Otherwise just dart him till he is dead!

IN THE TUNNEL: Can be tricky due to the amount of monsters, brothers, gravestones and people down in the tunnel, as he is the only one that can kill you with prayer on. Just take an extra dose and all will be good.

Verac's Picture!:

Pq36iURS.jpg

After annialating Verac, walk down to the most southern mound, our very own man in a skirt, Karil.

Karil

IN THE MOUND: Range protect and kill. you may only take off prayer (or just not re-dose) if he is on under 10 hitpoints. Otherwise you will be ramming large quantities of shark down your little throat.

IN THE TUNNEL: Same strategy except he might get one or two sneaky shots in before you realise "hey im now not dying from the skeleton, now a pink man in a skirt!". Just kill him and that thought.

Picture time! By the way, this picture is for all the people that recommend meleeing karil. The other guy walked in at the SAME time as me...and he is level 102...

aV3t93ni.jpg

Walk north-west to torag's mound, for the most boring fight of your life...

Torag

IN THE MOUND: Use up your remaining prayer from karil, and take a dose if you are lacking 60+ defensive skills. Otherwise NEVER re-dose, just eat if he does the annoying torag special: 0 0 0 0 *yawn* 24 17 *omg!*

IN THE TUNNEL: Same deal really. He won't hit you very high without prayer, so a dose will suffice.

No picture because I killed him too fast =)...

Now run directly east, to good old Guthan, take ONE dose of prayer potion and dig in...

Guthan

IN THE MOUND: Really the same as torag, except when you have run out of prayer and he should be on 1/10 health, he may start healing, if so just re-dose and kill him.

IN THE TUNNEL: Many people try to save a prayer potion with Guthan it seems. It is you people that keep the Grim Reaper busy. Guthan will hit high through mystic, just not often. Only try to safespot him with help from an experienced friend.

Picture pl0x?:

Pq36k0HS.jpg

Out of the mound, pop on you fresh new dragonhide and head over to the middle mound...

Ahrim

IN THE MOUND: At level 65 ranged, with rune arrows, I demolish this fellow with one-dose of the turquoise nectar. He is easy, but can hit 17+ quite often if your magic and defence levels are not 70+. So just re-dose if he does =).

IN THE TUNNEL: Same strategy as the mound, except you have to watch out for the occasional pot shot when you havn't potted up.

No pictures for you!

7.0 Tunnel Time!

So you have hopefully killed 5 brothers and received a message from one saying he is a complete cat and is hiding in a tunnel ready to jump you. Heroic brothers, eh? pfft...read this section and the wussy brother will be toast in no time.

Before entering the tunnel please note that you should have turned auto-cast back on, and auto-retaliate OFF:

Pq36mbTJ.jpg

Now when you arrive in the tunnel, look for your open door, and either start running the circit, or run through the side tunnels (see picture). The circit is basicly running around in a circle through doors until you either have to turn around on do the circit in the opposite direction, or get a door leading to the chest area.

Now creatures (including your brother) can spawn everytime a door is opened, and your brother will spawn when you try to open the chest if you have not encountered him yet...

aV3tdkLJ.jpg

And here is the beautiful, item giving chest:

Pq36lIY0.jpg

Now you have killed your brother, and are about to open the chest, you may want to consider getting a kill count of around 15 to guarentee getting your runes back, and so so can pick up a few more bloods, bolt racks and chaos to sell at the Grand Exchange!

8.0 Making A profit

To make sure you can always pay for your runes, pots and food, you need to make enough money to cover the costs and give a profit. So this is a guide on what you should sell immediately after every 10 or so runs, including barrows items (unless you are looking to keep it).

Sell

ALL blood runes

ALL chaos runes

ALL bolts racks (unless you own karil's xbow)

ALL Dragon Medium helms

ALL Half Keys

Karils Coif

Karils Xbow

Ahrims Hood

Ahrims Staff

Torag's plate

Torag's Hammers

Guthans plateskirt

Guthans platebody

Verac's Flail

Every else is worth over 450k, so you should try and wait for the market to turn in your favour, or just sell it and buy some cool stuff!

9.0 Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed reading my guide and take notes from it as its all good stuff. I would like to make two points aswell:

1. Doing barrows is at YOUR risk. You can lose items, but if you follow my guide correctly I can almost guarantee a death-free barrowsing adventure.

2.The tunnel picture, mound pictures and Brother pictures are all tip.it's.

Happy Scaping!

I Quit. You should too.

lvl 60's are magically supposed to have all this stuff?

I've seen a lvl 46 today with a Red Partyhat. And this stuff is pretty basic/not too expensive to get.

It's a nice basic guide.

Perfect for the starters :P

But I don't think level 60's can wield a slayer staff (atleast, most lickely not).

Perhaps an alternative for that?

Hmm... I think I'll use this method as soon as I do the Myreque quests, DT, get 50 cons, 70 ranged, 55 slayer, and extra money for runes :D !!!

But I have some questions- Do the brothers spawn as soon as you enter their tomb? Why not kill Dharok last - he seems easy enough (with prayer) and his mage def is lowest.

If I were to barrow for my first time, what would be an alternate inv?

Other than that, very nice, but another barrows guide - 8/10

Thankyou for your comments insert =). No, the brothers spawn when you click on their tomb, or give you a message stating that they are in the tunnel waiting for you.An alternative invent would be to replace lobster with monkfish (i messed around in the tunnel for about 3 years) and maybe bring one more prayer potion as everyone is more cautious on their first time.

Dharok is killed first as he is considered a more dangerous brother. Therefore you dont waste the prayer you already have on a nooby btoher like torag. So dharok then verac. And then karil. The rest are easy.Good Luck at barrows

bump
Your not suppose to bump guides...

You setup is kind of wrong...why do you need vambs? They barly add more plus range, I think a lobby would be more useful, also the point of a one click tele is if your about to die, you should have it on the top right hand side either next to the spade or under it...

Using a God Mitre, you lose 2 Magic Attack bonuses. Also using a combat bracelet gives the same Magic Attack Bonus as the Mystic Gloves, but their melee bonus can help in the tunnel. A God Stole loses 8 Magic Attack Bonus, but gains +7 Prayer. If you make all these changes you will have 77 Magic Attack and 20 Prayer, compared to your 87 Magic Attack and 8 Prayer. I have never maged barrows with less then 70, but I am pretty sure you will still hit easily.
