I don't think I'll ever get this blending thing... :?

How do you make your renders blend? I try to use background blurs of the render, but they do not always work out.

No blending at all there, looks like a render pasted on the bg.

To blend, you have to use brushes (or c4ds) that overlap a little or completely the render, while still blending in the background.

I can't explain it really better

The problem is that PDN does not have brushes, just 500 different types of filters, so that leaves me hanging a bit. It doesn't have smudging either. But once, I took my sig I made in PDN and tried working on it in GIMP with smudging (I think I killed it).

Then get a program that has them, else you're gonna be stucked using already existing c4ds, you can still make good sigs, but it doesnt leave much freedom.

Try GIMP or PS trial

You CAN make great sigs in pdn.

yes, but it will become more of ripping then creating your own would it not? because you have to use image after image, etc etc, and non of them are yours.. i dont know nothing about pdn. so ima stop there.

but, try gimp again Guthix. it makes wonders. and its free -.-

There is not much ripping involved with PDN. I mean, I can't say that my sig is terrible, but the entire background was made from complete scratch. Other than the render, it was my work completely. Especially with PDN 3. If you take a few colors and stick them on a canvas, then add on certain filters and settings, you can get some really nice stuff. That's how I made my background.

K, did a small example, pretty basic and not that good, but I'll explain a few things

I started with your sig.

I use GIMP with all default stuff.

Basically, I used flame renders (filters>render>nature (I think)>flame). I used them on dodge layers and burn layers. Then I used some brushes to blend the bottom of the render, brushed on a value layer at low opacity.

After that, I played around with color balance, contrast, lightness and saturation.

I also erased abit the layers on top of the render so some of the basic colors stayed.

I'm a beginner at this (this is my 5th one I think), so all I do is more by instinct than by experience. So just play around with stuff, don't be afraid to try.

Hope that helps, pm me if you're not sure about some stuff.

Cooool. I wanna play with his signature too.

Onto the signature...

Motion blur looks kinda good, look like the guard was doing a thrusting attack.

What I don't understand is the black stroke around the render,

I don't know if you can say this but... I think it's well done but it doesn't appeal to me anyway. Too much gray. Not enough exiting colors. Not that I'm an expert on that... other than that I don't know.

Photoshop with no brushes and alot more filters sums it up tbh.
