Paying for membership with gift card?

Featured Replies

I recently recieved an American Express Gift Card and i was wondering if i would be able to pay for membership with it. If so, please tell me how to do it :)

I engineered this thread with precise variables that I know would cause lul-worthy flames.

Sadly, no.

JaGEx doesn't accept American Express, and I don't know of any online company that does either (like Paypal - they don't accept gift cards from American Express).

I had one too, and it seems like its one of the few that doesn't work anywhere online.

Thats bad news for me.. What would you recommend as the best payment method?

Gift cards are a good way to go, as long as you find one that works XD.

I use a Visa Gift Card to pay for my membership.

I was about to post a topic very similar to this,

but one difference: I received one of those Simon Gift Cards

Acceptable where ever VISA debit cards are accepted.

Not meaning to piggyback;

but would this work?

Only $5.11 left on it.

I believe it would work. I did a quick google search and it didn't say anything about not working online or allowing reoccurring payments (Vanilla Visa Gift Cards don't accept reoccurring payments, so they don't work). So I don't see any problem with it not working.

You have enough money for a month, so try it out  .

Visa gift cards work perfectly, as long as they don't state, "Valid only in the US."

Or if they don't allow reoccurring payments like the Vanilla Visa card.

wait so a vanilla visa gift card will not work at all? Are there any common places (american) where I can find a non-vanilla card such as wal-mart etc. or could you load money to pay pal with a vanilla card and then pay through that?

also, would it just count as the credit card option when signing up for membership?

Sorry, this is my first time for members. Thanks for any answers

Someone previously made a topic about Vanilla Visa Cards and all that was determined was that you can't use it to directly buy a membership.

You could possibly use it to transfer money to Paypal though. Someone suggested it in the last thread, but the author never replied back.

Be over 18? Where did you hear that?

All the times I bought it, they never asked my age. All you do to activate it is pay an extra 3-5 dollar fee.

Ok so I saw visa prepaid cards at wal-mart today but I wanted to clear this up before I got anything.

All I have to do is buy the card(around 6 dollars) and then I guess give the cashier money to put on the card or do I need to put money on it another way?

It also said on the little package that the cards are in something about sending a personalized card to your address- would this be optional?

And when signing up with jagex, do I use the credit card option?

I really appreciate your time and patience with this whole thing.

Well you have the option of purchasing a card with a set limit or a card that you can add money (reloadable). The set amounts are usually like 30, 50, 100 etc (from the ones I saw at my Wal-Mart). Activation fee is around 3-5 depending on which card.

The reloadable gift cards, hhave a higher activation fee (like 13 dollars), but gives more flexibility in the end.

I'm not sure about the personalized card part.

And yeah, you just use the credit card option. And since it's not registered to anyone, you can put anything down as your name.
