Nul_Oblivion
I'm at the end of the quest and all I need to do is kill that big Dagganoth creature that changes colors, but I'm having a really hard time keeping up with the changes. By the time it takes me to click and cast a certain elemental spell, the thing switches colors and I can never land a decent hit on it. Not only that, but with protect from melee on it still hits me quite often with its range attacks. My question is what's the best way to beat this thing? Should I just wait for a certain color (which sometimes it's REALLY hard to tell what color it is; the change is so subtle) or what? I figured my combat level was high enough, so all I brought along was food and some Prayer Potions. Am I just going about this fight the wrong way? Thanks a lot! tryto
The Dagannoth changes colours in this way: White, Blue, Orange, Brown, Red, Green, and then back to white. So, if you just want to fight it in some parts, you can run away from it to a safespot between the forms you don't want to fight. When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in confederacy against him. ~Jonathan SwiftWebsite Updates/Corrections here. WE APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT! Yeah, I read that in the Quest Guide but my only question there is where are the safe spots? If he can range you, there technically aren't any safe spots, are there? tryto
Its been a while, but I think you can go into an area far away. You cant hit him, but neither can he. Perhaps behind a wall? Nul_Oblivion
Alright, I guess I'll just attack him with range and melee when the colors come up. It's too much of a hassle for me to keep changes spells. It's a waste of runes if you ask me. The reason I'm so paranoid is because I was inches away from death last time. I underestimated the stupid thing. :shame: Retired Member
curmudgeony
I underestimated the stupid thing. :shame: Don't feel bad, its a tough monster to fight, I beat it by the skin of my teeth as well. Best suggestion would be to pray on one form of its attack, and optimize your gear with the best def for the non-protected form.
nerdattack16
I just wore ranged defense armor and maged it.... I had 65ish defence and 60ish mage and it worked out fine... didn't hit me once. Seriously. I'd suggest bringing a DDP++ and special it when you can, then range it with a crossbow and decent bolts. Sig credit goes to ThruItAll. :D
