Summoning ~ for the Rich only

Featured Replies

Summoning is great. I've been waiting for it for ages now. I've been stockpiling Karamthulu and other various eggs prior to the release. The one thing I do not have, however, is an unlimited supply of money. This stat drains money at a rate equivalent to Construction. It may not seem like you are losing that much money, but you're getting much less xp. As such, this stat is not easily "powerlevelable." [in my mind, this is the Runecrafting of Construction, slow and expensive.]

In the 21 levels I've gotten so far, I've spent over 350K on this stat. Not only are Charms annoying to come by (which I entirely understand) the creation of these "creatures" is downright expensive.

Ex: Using the table I've created below. Let's figure out how much it would cost getting from 20-21. That's only 497 xp. Now lets assume you're going to use the best XP/cost method, the Granite Crab. So 497 divided by .0617 = 8055 Gp. That's how much it would cost to get lvl 21.

Food for thought:

(Note: I have not even included the cost of acquiring the materials [iron ore for example].)

The ones in Green require a Green Charm

The ones in Red require a Crimson Charm

The ones in Blue require a Blue Charm

Rest are Gold/normal Charms.

The ones in BOLD are the MOST COST EFFECTIVE ONES. [i used a calculator! Don't contradict me on this!I felt I had to say that because someone would come along and say that I was lying. :P]

I agree with you mate, it seems kramnite krambs, are the best to level for low levels.

If you love me, send me a PM.

If you're smart, you'll learn ways of getting charms that include other drops to help pay for the shards.

If you're dumb, you'll try to power-level a skill NOT designed to be power-leveled, and waste a ton of money doing it.

It's GOOD for there to be things to spend money on in this game aside from stupid hats.

Even though it takes a while to train, I think it's fun.

Well, what turns it off for me is the fact that a summon for fighting is useless in non-multicombat areas.

Really, how many multicombat areas do you know that have great drops? I think it was a bad move on Jagex part to do this. Really, whats so wrong with attacking a monster and having your summon help you? ...

Bad move Jagex. :shame:

Had they not done that, it would have unbalanced every monster in the game. And made Summoning too powerful.

its not rlly for the rich only, the charms take a lot of mon killing to get and in the time it takes for u to get the charms u need to strat traing again you would have plently of drops for u to shards. plussome of the high lv blue charm summons only need 1 shard

I entirely agree with you. Problem is, is that I would rather be able to make my own shards, albiet (much?) slower, if I didn't have to pay for them. I don't have multi millions that I'm really willing to drop to get a few levels. Sure...I could RC and make money, or kill monsters as you say. Problem with monsters though, is that all the relatively good ones, the ones where you make a large profit, are always, always crowded and often times it's hard to even get a decent kill rate because you're waiting for a spawn, or fighting for the spawn. (Blue Dragons for example, which are now going to be even more crowded.)

Ok.... Fine, once you get ABOVE 86, you can buy runite bars only to level.

And the other 3.6M xp on the way to it?

They just released an entire multi combat dungeon with many high level monsters, and many high level dungeons in the game are multi already (Tarn's lair)

Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

The thing I like about it is that it's just like Slayer. You use your combat to actually level it, in this case get the supplies to level it. I believe this has made a giant bonus to Slayer!

Bloated toads?

They're something like 10 shards for 8.7 xp

Plus the seconds are free

Sounds like fire giants will again be overcrowded :( Time to put chat on private, bring my cannon and shoo off others training there :P

Slayer... lol.

It's more of a Construction/Runecrafting/Combat/Herblore/Communism

Cons - expensive. 401 gp not including the cost of chickens/trouble of getting charms to make a Dreadfowl. (9.3 exp)

Runecrafting - CRAFT the pouches, anyone? + it's boring and slow, exactly like Runecrafting.

Combat - they help you in combat. Simple enough, yes? Plus you do get some exp for it - I used like 70 strike scrolls and 6 dreadfowl pouches and got 14 exp :P beat that.

Herblore - First ingredient (charms) Secondary ingredient (raw chicken)

Communism - They controlled the prices right off from the start :( They lied to us.

Edit: Oh, yeah, and Prayer: Summoning points that drop for each monster you summon.
