My Conversion to Christianity

Well I'm a christian, and I don't have any specific story, but the belief in God and a firm community behind me gives me strength in time were it seems sparse.

I congratulate you on your founding of your Christian enlightenment, and I invite you to further look deeper into the differents sects so that you might obtain a true happiness.

And some atheists need to chill and become more like the agnostics, because it seems as though your only purpose is to maliciously attack people who believe in a religion.

I prayed asked Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the "Sinners Prayer" is unBiblical and ineffective.

1 Peter 3:12 {KJV}

"For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil."

You were not saved when you started to pray the "Sinners Prayer", therefore you were part the them that do evil (you were still in sin) therefore the Lords face was turned away and did not hear your prayer.

Also, the "Sinners Prayer" was made by man and is not found ANYWHERE in the Bible.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 {KJV}

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"

"That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

So with the scripture a man "may be perfect" and "thoroughly furnished" so WHY do you add something in - it is not needed.

1 Corinthians 4:6 {KJV}

"And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another."

and then adding something to the Bible (which is already perfect) is going "beyond what is written"

2 John 9 {KJV}

"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son."

So, clearly with the sinners prayer not found in the Bible, and by using it your not "abiding in the doctrine of christ" therefore you "hath not God".

So, curious on what you need to do?

Hear the Word of God - Romans 10:17

Believe the Word of God - Heb 11:6

Repent of past sins - Acts 2:38

Confess you believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God - Romans 10:10

Be baptized - Acts 2:38

Being faithful unto death - Rev. 2:10

So, you need to break some kind of 'codex'. You know right that almost every church believes in different kind of 'codex'. Are the other christians going to hell then?

I mean.. You don't see anything wrong with that?

And to the OP. Please watch out carefully to not take these things too seriously. Many people have gone insane doing that.

Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Fairy tales just tend to be easier to follow than the wonderful intricacies of life.

I have a funny story for this. I am attack daily in school for being a atheist yet i never force my opinions on people as that is ignorant.

The true answer is nobody knows where the world came from and if there is some magical force such as god, we can only assume. Sciene cant prove what happened before the big bang and religion cant prove that god created the world.

For every debate there is of either god creating the world or the big bang creating the world there is a perfectly good argument to it.

Im not going to congratulate you for joining a religion but believe in what you want to believe.

Well, to contribute to the topic:

I was born with my left eye near blind, affecting my depth perception. This made playing most sports near impossible. I might not even be able to recieve my license. I was just recently notified that there is no way to fix it. What god would make that happen to me, what god would make others disabled?

I came to the conclusion that there is no god, everything around seems to point to that too.

Things like this are one of the leading reasons why I'm an atheist. I see all of these young children with serious diseases and think: how can there be an all loving god?

The major thing you don't understand though is that we are sinful and are born of a sinful nature. Ex: If you have ever lied, cheated... you are sinner (just clarifying I am not saying that I havn't) Saying this, we don't deserve mercy, So your basic question, (again not that you actually said this but it sums both of your questions) Why do bad things happen to good people? We don't deserve what we get because we sin. We are only granted mercy by God because He is merciful

sins..sins.

i am all for indulging,the restrictions and things the church and christianity put on people is ridiculous..they lead to gratification on this planet..they make people feel guilty when there is no need to.

why do bad things happen to good people..god punishes them for sins..no matter how small the sin,a white lie..and poof..he throws you into the abbys ?..that is just too precious.

that is what bothers me,everyone is like..oh,everything is a test..blah blah,god is testing us,if we get through..the paradise awaits us..yes,cute thought and all..but live your life,here,now.

hell awaits me..and what a ride it will be. :lol:
