Win vs. Omni

Was a great game, a few unconventional sets :)

I had:

Machamp @ Lum Berry

252 hp, 200 attack, 16 special def, rest speed

Adamant, No Guard

~Dyn. Punch

~Ice Punch

~Payback

~Bullet Punch

Jolteon @ Choice Specs

252sp. atl, 252 spd, 4 def

Timid, Volt Absorb

~Thunderbolt

~Shadow Ball

~Hidden Power [ice]

~Baton Pass

Scizor @ Choice Band

252 hp, 252 atk, 4 speed

Adamant, Technician

~Bullet Punch

~U-Turn

~Pursuit

~Superpower

Gyarados @ Leftovers

252 hp, 148 speed, rest in attack

Adamant, Intimidate

~Waterfall

~Stone Edge

~Dragon Dance

~Taunt

Shaymin @ Choice Specs

252 spc atk, 252 speed, 4 def

Modest, Natural Cure

~Seed Flare

~Hidden Power [Fire]

~Earth Power

~Air Slash

Heatran @ Shuca Berry

252 sp atk, 252 speed, 4 atk

Naughty, Flash Fire

~Fire Blast

~Earth Power

~Explosion

~Stealth Rock

That was my final team, my original team had Salamence and a few other things.

Shaymin functions more as a heavy-hitter, so I'm thinking I should give it 252 hp instead of speed, whereas Jolteon is more of a sweeper, depsite the fact that both are reasonably fast and have choice specs. Shaymin, however, can beat Blissey with Seed Flare, given that it gets a Sp. Def drop, which is quite an impressive feat. It also OHKOs stuff like Rotom and Tyranitar that can give Jolteon a little trouble, despite the fact that Jolteon had Shadow Ball and HP Ice, respectively.

For most of the tournament:

[hide]

Azelf @ Focus Sash

252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP, Hasty

Explosion, HP:Dragon (69), Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave

Raikou @ Life Orb

252 Sp.A and Speed, 4 HP, Modest

Calm Mind, HP:Fire (65), Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt

Flygon @ Choice Band

Same build as Azelf, Jolly

Earthquake, Fire Punch, Outrage, U-Turn

Metagross @ Leftovers

252 HP, 252 Attack, 4 def, Adamant

Bullet Punch, Earthquake, Hammer Arm, Ice Punch

Togekiss @ Leftovers.

I just noticed that I completely [bleep]ed up on this one. No EVs, Lonely Nature, and hustle ability. That explains everything that made it horrible to use.

Air Cutter, Thunder Wave, Heat Wave, Nasty Plot

Snorlax @ Leftovers

168 HP, 120 DEF, 220 SP.D, Brave nature

Curse, Earthquake, Outrage, Return

By the way, you want Air Slash on Togekiss, not Air Cutter.

Also, that's an interesting Azelf set, what's the idea behind it?

It's official. I suck at Flitchkiss  Hopefully now it'll work.

Wave things that may be a threat, rocks next, explode after, or before in the case of Machamp leads. HP:Dragon is there so I can attack without exploding, though it's just filler. Explosion's physical, so physical focus.

Heh, I used Air Cutter on my first Togekiss as well and I got laughed at ;_;

Why HP Dragon though? Why not something like Flamethrower so you can take care of Steels that resist Explosion? Or HP Ground for the same reason, but also deals with Rock types?

Chapter 1: A hard note

Chapter 2: The Island of Doom

Chapter 3: Dusk and Shore

Chapter 4: Shock!

[hide]

Despite our glorious win against Sapphire, we were still shaken by Tania. As i was suggesting we came back to rest for a day, Nathan wanted to keep going.

We soon arrived at Mauville, where we all gathered and were figuring out a strategy to defeat this gym leader. No one at the pokecenter would tell us his speciality. As we were going to the gym, a challenger appeared.. Wally, from Petalburg, was shaking in front of the gym, his uncle discouraging him to enter. As we approached, wally challenged us for a fight. I was sending out Yogi, who has been quite calm lately, but he seemed to want to give Aran his turn. She hapily and quickly defeated Wally's Ralts. He then blushed, called his uncle, and left to verdanturf. On the way out, i heard his uncle say "You should get a ground type you know, otherwise you can't take Wattson". Looks like Nathan will unload his anger at the gym.

As we traveled thowards Verdanturf for some training, we found a revive, one of the few available throughout the game. I heard rumours there is a revive mine in dewford, which i may pay a visit later on. As soon as we found this revive, a new trainer challenged us. Sadly enough, the poison stall technique vanity boasts didn't work this time. He fell. Yogi instantly came out and finished punishing this doduo. I am not loosing another one. I used the revive and i'm proud i did so. Vanity opened his eyes again, and Nathan tackled him right after, and started lecture him. It was... kinda awkward, but i'm glad we didn't loose Vanity, or any other member for that matter.

After a short visit to verdanturf, as we were heading back, we met this strange couple that said they could train our pokemon. I thought this was a good opportunity for homer and Arnold. W let them and they seemed to be happy about it. As we came back to Mauville, we just healed up and headed to the gym.

"HaHa! New challengers" laughed Wattson. "well, i'm wound up, lets get this rolling".

The battle was over in no time, thanks to Nathan's mud shot and Aran's newly-learned Dig. Wattson was nearly crying, but in laughter. I don't get him, he just laughs by seeing his pokemons beeing bullied around. I guess that's the life of a Gym leader. A life i don't want.

He gave us the badge and a brand new TM. Mandrake seemed rather enthusiastic, but i told him not to waste a good TM on a move he will not need, since he had learned spark recently. As we proceeded north, we broke through some breakable rocks, but not before humuliating the Winstrate family. Mandrake, once again, took a liking to the Macho Brace they gave us. Until he is needed for a big fight, i'll let him hold it i guess.

In the next road, we came up with this friendly Numel, who kindly offered us a rawst berry. Camilla the numel joined our team, and with her bulkyness and nice typing, she is ought to be a good addition. She also joined Yogi and Aran in their nice little group. They want to be known as Yo-Ara-Milla trio. these kids *tsk tsk*

We wanted to go up the mountain, but these "Magma" guys were blocking it. Bah, looks like we will go have a stroll along the north. We passed through the fiery path, were we met Ignatio the slugma. We ran through this scorching hot cave and came up on the other side. After a lot of walking, and meeting Emma the spinda, a trainer jumped us, a ninja boy apparently, and really wounded Yogi. tthankfully, he as still able to defeat it. Even better, Yogi actually evolved after the battle, but we had to rush for the pokecenter. The diagnosis was simple. He broke a wing bone, therefore, he won't be able to battle again. The entire team was shocked, specially because the Tania incident happened so little time ago.

We all said goodbye to Yogi, we will visit it him i guess. As we approached the PC though, a strange charachter was near it. "I'm Lannete" she said. "I am the creator and manager of this regiaon's storage system". After this short introduction, we proceeded and found this most peculiar pokemon. A swablu. After we caught it, she was named Louise, the swablu, and she soon proved herself to be quite usefull tanking hits and asleeping enemies. She will have a future i think.

As we ran inside Meteor Falls, this random science guy was being harassed by more Magma grunts. I was going to fight them, Aqua grunts appeared and chased them off, they still took what this Scientis had, so we must wait and see what time brings. We all returned to Rustburo and slept there for tonight.[/hide]

Well, Skarmory will wall your entire time, bar Electivire, all day long, unless you get lucky with Kingdra.

Using Infernape over Heracross would help mend this problem, in addition to being just better overall. Try:

Infernape @ Life Orb

Adamant/Jolly, 252 atk 252spd, 4 HP

Blaze

~Swords Dance

~Close Combat

~Flare Blitz

~Stone Edge/Mach Punch

Stone Edge is for Gyarados, who walls this otherwise, Mach Punch is to deal with Scarfers and other revenge killers.

Switching this into Skarmory will scare it away, and +2 Flare Blitz is a clean OHKO, and I think +2 CC is also a OHKO if Skarmory switches into Stealth Rock twice, if you'd rather not take recoil where you don't need to.

I don't see what Heracross is doing that Infernape isn't, unless you want a status-absorber, which Milotic is looking fine with (barring Toxic).

Dnite -> Heatran -> Toxicroak is a feasible tactic, however, there are a few flaws with it.

First off, no stealth rock in that chain. I'd say running a lead Heatran in a non-lead position would fit your bill best. You could set some rocks and if you see no immediate counter, you could proceed to launch strong Fire blasts and Explode when you're done.

Second, Breloom is most likely better than Toxicroak. While you won't heal, Poison Heal will end up being better if you can keep Breloom on the field, which shouldn't be hard with Spore + Sub. It's scare off every water except Gyarados, which you have Zapdos for.

Rhyperior is a tad slow to function in the "clean-up" role. Agility Lucario could do the job better, or if you want to remain loyal to typing, you could try Tyranitar or Flygon. Band Tyranitar is bulky enough to function as the tank+heavy hits role that Rhyperior seems to fill, while Scarftar and Scarf Flygon both are better at cleaning due to their speed.

Electivire is doing absolutely nothing. Without anything to lure in electric attacks for Motor Drive, Infernape would be the better option. It can do everything a non-Motor Driven Electivire can do, except better. 100% accurate fighting move, stronger STAB, stronger stats. the SD Infernape in my last post works, or you can opt to go completely mixed with something like Close Combat, Fire Blast, and two of Mach Punch/Vacuum Wave/Thunderpunch/Icepunch/Stone Edge. You could use Earthquake, although that's redundant coverage with CC and FB.

So yeah, i want to incorporate a flygon in my team, but i don't know where

Can anyone suggest one that needs to leave?

Before saying dustox, he is one of the most valuable. After i defeated the fire gym he learned toxis and is an increadible staller, and will be a perfect staller once he learns the reflect and light screen.

If you are wondering what i want from my team, here it is:

[hide]

Nathan: mixed attacker

Vanity: Toxic staller

Aran: Physical attacker (btw, where can you get substitute?)

Louise: Tanker and set up sweeper.

Mandrake: Water coverage

Camilla: Mixed sweeper.[/hide]

I think Sub is one of the game corner prizes. It's always the last TM (so 50).

I recommend Tyranitar over Rhyperior. Rhyperior is 110/130/55 defenses, while Tyranitar is 100/110/100. You sacrifice a little physical defenses for tons more special defense, and with guaranteed sandstorm you also get a 50% boost to special defense every game. Not to mention, it's faster and can run mixed sets pretty well.

I'm doing pretty well in my Nuzlocke run of Diamond. Most of my team would be weak to Ground if it weren't for the two levitaters. Sorry for the lack of a story, I'm not very good at those. If I can keep this team alive I can take on the Elite 4 without a problem!

Sure does, but it only really affects Toxicroak (it wouldn't affect Breloom) and Electivire/Infernape. Dnite is a lead so it probably won't have to deal with it, and Heatran is immune. Zapdos is bulky enough and has recovery, so it's fine. (Btw, what's with HP Normal? Should make it HP Ice so Flygon doesn't render you helpless.)

So, i am creating this "surprise" team for shoddy, which consists so far on lead scizor, banded slaking, bellyzard, knock off toxic spin tentacruel, nasty plot houndoom and specs lucario.

Any suggestions?

Specs Gyarados? :D

I once made a team based on Gravity, and it was amazing in terms of "surprise" factor.

I've decided (65% sure) that I'll reset my beloved Sapphire to do the Nuzlocke challenge. I want it to be difficult, so throw as many rules as possible at me to make it harder, and I'll pick which ones I want. So far I have:

-KO=graveyard box (unusable but not released).

-1st pokemon in each route must be caught. If not, no other in that route can be.

-You must nickname all pokemon caught.

-Set battle style must be used.
