June 24, 200818 yr I am f2p and im wondering if this would be effective... buy iron ores and coal with necessary runes and cast superheat then sell at ge. would i be losing money doing this?
June 24, 200818 yr You would make 115 gp each if you bought them all at med. Come to #tip-it on Swift IRC, if you're cool
June 24, 200818 yr If you're making steel bars, which it sounds like, using superheat, here's the cost of the supplies: SUPPLES: coal=193gpx2(medium price today) iron=97gp(medium price today) nature=263gp(medium price today) -The supplies cost on average 746gp.(watch out though the price could suddenly sky-rocket) -Steel bars cost 668gp atm and rising/lowering. -So you lose around 78gp every steel bar -I suggest you mine some of your own ore (i also suggest coal since it's the most expensive in ore and you need double, but you can also mine iron since iron mines fast) that way you can get more proffit. -So you'll be getting magic xp,smithing xp,and mining xp(if you decide to mine some of your own ore like i suggested)which sounds really good. I hope I helped you some, -skillerman84
June 24, 200818 yr Oh...my bad I forgot you need two coal for a bar. You end up losing 5 gp/bar if you get everything at med. Come to #tip-it on Swift IRC, if you're cool
June 24, 200818 yr Author what if i buy at lowest price... i believe ppl sell at lowest price... right?
June 25, 200818 yr what if i buy at lowest price... i believe ppl sell at lowest price... right? Could try it and see. :P Won't hurt you. Just sell at med after if you decide you don't want it or something.
June 25, 200818 yr Do not forget that steel bars are still dropping in value because of the "Rocking out" phenomenom. They peaked at over 800gp and two weeks later are down to 667gp. The price was between 600 - 630 prior to the release of the quest.

As for superheating bars, I believe the xp for superheat item is the same as high alchemy, no? I'm not sure, but I know they must be very close. So that means only 70 gp or so for high alchemy is very cheap, especially for f2p. ~It's Super Effective! June 25, 200818 yr What I meant is that the costs that have been calculated have been made by using data that is changing rapidly. If the poster decides to smith 10000 steel bars based on getting 670gp for each steel bar then he may be disappointed due to the fact that steel bars are dropping in price at the moment and when he sells the bars he will find that they may only be worth 620. I do take your point about superheating being a good option for non members. I smithed 1000 addy ores and 11000 mith ores using drops from cockroaches and bought coal. However I then turneg into platebodies and high alched so I made a huge loss.
