So I need to figure out a problem. My parents somehow can find out the websites i've been to, even though they dont go on my computer. We have 2 computers, theirs and mine. Theirs is connected to a wireless router. Mine is in another room, connecting to the router by one of those USB adapter things. The router brand is Belkin, if that means anything about this. I have my firefox set to auto delete history whenever I log out. My parents and I are both running Windows XP. Now, how exactly do they find out where I've been on my computer from their computer? Is their anyway to stop this? Also, can they see all the programs I use and download things from, (such as iTunes), or can they only see websites I've been too?

Well type in your I.P and it should come up with your router home. I think thats it anyway  :wall:

If it's not that, they could have a keylogger or some type of remote access program linked to your computer which allows one to see what you do on your computer.

If they can see what you're doing, and then they're suddenly unable to, I'm fairly certain they'll suspect something.

HijackThis might turn something up, but seriously, you can't just delete the program or they'll know.

If you're that paranoid about it, Puppy linux on a live CD or usb stick is the way to go.

And connorb, 192.168.1.1 is usually what brings up router management, but I don't of any programs that run through the routers :uhh:

If you can, run HijackThis, and if THEY keylogged/monitor your computer, delete it, and then I could send you a force-feedback virus which you could use to fry their hard drive, if not cripple it.

Or, on a more sensible note, tell them they have NO right to be using ANY sort of monitoring, as that's an invasion of privacy.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Also, what exactly does puppy linux do?

It's a very lightweight (very, very, lieghtweight) linux distribution, that is designed for being run off a live cd or a flash drive. It's an entire operating system that you load up when you need to. It's ridiculously awesome.

So, it will NOT get rid of Windows XP, and will NOT allow my parents to track me?

It won't get rid of XP, no; it runs entirely off the CD.

Some simple instructions:

Use something like ImgBurn to burn the ISO file it gives you to a CD (preferably a rewritable one)

Then shut down your computer, and turn it back on. Go into the BIOS (usually by pressing the delete key when it firsts turns on, it should say "PRESS -SOME KEY- TO ENTER SETUP" then scout around in there for boot option, boot priority, boot devices, whatever. Make sure your CD drive is set as first.

Then restart, and boot into the CD environment.

As for whether they'll be able to track you, probably not, but posting a HJT log will be able to clear that up.

Sorry, but we do not help people who are looking for help circumventing parental controls or logging on the machine by parents. Perhaps you should ask your parents why they look ;)
