The treatment of F2P players

Featured Replies

And you COULD pay 5$ ONE TIME to become a member ONCE and get your skillcape...Now, if you can afford a computer and an internet connection, you can afford 5$ ONCE.

Excuse my rudeness, but that's a very ignorant argument. Some F2P don't become members for reasons other than the lack of money.

I've been F2P and P2P, and on both sides I saw the same things: rudeness, immaturity, and all such of adjectives listed on this topic. Also, this has nothing to do with the age. Little kids can be both members or free players. I do agree it's easier for a kid to be free to play, though there's still some on P2P.

F2P is a demo version of Runescape to try and get you to pay for Members if you like it. Because of this, I feel there is no reason for extra bank space, minigames, whining and complaining for more updates to F2P, and updates to F2P at all. Period.

It freaks me out everytime I see that. It's not Demo-Game, It's Game-Expansion Pack, for god's sake! Also, there is a need for updates, even if they are minimal changes to the game. When you run out of members, you need to go to F2P if you still want to play. Let's see how you have fun with only 68 bank spaces and no costume room to store your clothes.

Also, F2P are a way of gaining money for JaGEx aswell. Firstly, as we all know, the adverts. Everytime you click, bla bla bla. And now we see the ads whenever we log in. I guess that's a really good addition to the funds gained with members.

Secondly, who do you think becomes member? F2P, obviously. What are Gnomecopters for? Good job, attracting more member players. I'll not say Gnomecopters are fun/boring, though it's nice to have something new to enjoy and get a smile out of your face even if it's for just 15 minutes.

Now I'd call myself half F2P and half P2P. Yes I've been a member in the past and I am currently, but I have the sort of stats as a F2P and spend time over there quite a lot and would give up my P2P if I needed the money for something else.

Having been on both sides I can say without a doubt that there are morons on both sides. F2P morons are the ones shouting and spamming at banks asking 'giv rune plz plz plz plz.' and the P2P morons are the ones going 'haha, ur only level 129. gb2 f2p you n00b.'

F2P sterotypes come from the fact that most people who play are younger children who either can't afford to get a membership, who have parents who won't pay it or who just don't want to pay and are happy playing for free. But the thing is, the idea of all F2P being n00bs is because most normal members who aren't n00bs aren't the ones shouting at the bank so you don't get a discussion on something in Lumbridge castle you get 'GIIIIIIVVVV GP!!!!' or 'SELLIN BRNZ HELM 1 MIL!' ect. You don't notice the 20 odd other players there just hapily going about their business.

I really, and I mean really, hate the sort of snobbiness you can get from P2P people. Every single one of you have been a F2P at one point, even if it wasn't for long you were, and behing every single F2P account is a human being who gets offended when you call him/her an idiotic n00b because they can't afford the items and membership you can. My brother wanted to be a member, I told him NO way because the people on P2P worlds would just laugh and take the mickey out of him because of his level. Even I get it and it does my head in so much. Does it MATTER if you're paying or not, as long as you're having fun?

As for F2P people whining for updates. I agree that some updates should be more P2P based but come on, the F2P world is tiny compared to the P2P world and there's so much more for members. I agree. F2P isn't a demo it's a game, and P2P is a game expansion for those who want more challenges or whatever you became a member for.

So I for one, am going to stay just as polite to F2P members as I am P2P. Every one of us are playing the same game, the only thing that separates F2P and P2P is money and to be honest, there's enough problems with the rich laughing at the poor in the REAL world, why bring all that stuff into Runescape too?
