The treatment of F2P players

Featured Replies

Most F2P players whine, beg, report people for no reason and lots more. But there is a small percentage who don't do any of those but because of most of them whine, beg etc Some F2P players are unfairly treated but most deserve it.

Some p2p'ers are going to say that f2p'ers are all -10 year old freeloaders who do nothing but beg, and whine, and continually say that they do not deserve updates because they do not pay for them. In doing so they beg for Jagex to stop giving f2p updates, and whine when they do. The age bit is just a low blow, because everyone who begs and whines is guaranteed to be under 10...

As pretty much everyone else said, Stereotyping.

I do remember hearing a friend say that p2p'ers were worse than f2p when he got members, something to think about...

f2pers are working HARD for there levels(p2p also,but only at high levels)

Well, I'm not bashing members or anything, but aren't you guys the ones paying for an online game. I guess it isn't as bad as WoW, but still. That kind of shows that you don't have anything else better to do than play a game on the computer. However, I was a member for a while too, so I shouldn't be the one to talk. So a lot of f2p's just don't really have time to get their money's worth out of the game.

Even though there have been a lot of updates to the free sites, I think we still need skillcapes or something to show people that we worked to get 99 in a skill.

You are still bashing members whether you were one or not. You're implying that paying for an online game should be frowned upon. Where did you get that idea from?

:lol: EPIC FAIL. Sorry, but while paying for the game, we don't spend more time than you on it. We just ensure to make the most out of this time.

Under that point of view it seems your argument is quite wrong.

Frowned upon? All I said was that I think SOME members don't have anything better to do than play an online game. I never said that paying for it was bad. I quit for the summer so I could go outside and enjoy being outside while it lasts. In the fall, when it starts to get too cold to be outside all the time, I'll join again. I'll have to quit early this spring to play golf. I don't want to pay for membership if I won't be on enough to get my money's worth out of it.

Doctors repeat themselves because they have nothing better to say......

If that's true, then your first post doesn't even have a point... You used the fact that members pay against them by saying they have nothing better to do than play games, and now you are saying that only some of them are like that. Well, all members pay - not just some of them.

I can see that I'm preaching to the choir here..... :wall:

I said that some members have nothing better to do than play RS. Nowhere did I say that some members don't pay. Maybe you should take a speech class.....

Doctors repeat themselves because they have nothing better to say......

What you did say was that the fact that members pay shows that they have nothing better to do than play online games. Well, all members pay. That means you are saying all of them have nothing better to do than play games, which is an insult.

I'll kindly stand corrected if you can show me where in your post you mentioned/implied the word "some". I'll be waiting. ;)

By the way, do you even know what "preaching to the choir means"? It means you are trying to convince someone into believing something they already believe. I think you meant to use, "This is like talking to a wall," since we're not in agreement. Maybe you're the one who needs help with speech, seeing as you are the only one making mistakes here.

I would bet he will edit his post lol.

Seriously, we make the choice to pay for our games. The same way you pay to play golf.

And you COULD pay 5$ ONE TIME to become a member ONCE and get your skillcape...Now, if you can afford a computer and an internet connection, you can afford 5$ ONCE.

Alright, I don't know why members should complain about F2P getting updates. It's like a child who's complaining why some other kid got a lollipop just like he did. It's not like the updates are F2P only...

j0xPu5R.png

ok people. Here's my opinion

1. SOME members don't have anythnig else better to do than play RS all their life. If you got the impression that I was calling all members losers with no life, I'm sorry you took it the wrong way and maybe I should have been more clear on the first post.

2. SOME non-members have other things to do and don't want to put $5 into something they can't devote a whole lot of time to. Why should people harrass us for not paying when SOME of us don't play as much as SOME members. Like me. I only subscribe in the winter when I'm really not doing anything.

I hope that got my thought across.

Doctors repeat themselves because they have nothing better to say......

Personally, I dont see how P2P can complain about the updates that F2P get.

Im probably going to be forgetting things here, but lets have a look at the last few updates.

All of the updates that F2P get are ones that are solely in f2p zones(duh.), they arent exactly going out of their way to make a tailormade f2p update.

Clan Wars, Bounty Hunter. - Jagex have no choice but to add this to f2p. This in in a f2p zone

Stronghold of Player Safety - For the benefit of the newbies, which are almost, without a doubt f2p. Makes sure they know about account security, which is pretty damned important.

Gnomecopters - Exists solely to show F2P what members is like, trying to get them to upgrade

Levelling Messages - Applies to everyone, an interface change cannot be members only, this simply wouldn't work in terms of the coding and such

Quick Chat - Same as above

Development Diary - Probably the biggest f2p update in a while. Again, this will help the newbies get to know lumbridge, and the surrounding areas, which isnt a bad thing.

Bank/Lending - Same for Levelling and Quick Chat

The only big f2p updates are replacing the wilderness/pking which was done in f2p, development diary and stronghold. Tailored for newbies as opposed to f2p.

Iamanarab - 119/110 Combat - 1700+ Total - P2P for the moment

F2p or p2p jesus we're all humans lmao, they should be treated with the same respect that you would treat anyone with.

=D

As a F2P player myself(who wishes to be p2p if possible), I would read rants normally to see some interesting posts. I agree that some F2P players are good, some are not. But there are P2P players who are worse off than us. High level F2P (90+) are normally okay to me. I feel that it is the posts of people that can decide how good they are, and treat everyone equally will be the best.

Yeah, like that zaryte bow

wait

recharge costs = ammo.

So, all melee weapons are overpowered, at least.

this combat triangle finally makes sense...

i dont discriminate either f2p or p2p.. i know play a second account thats purely f2p and not my main which is my forum name here. i treat people on how they present themselves. not by their levels

You know every skill is faster in P2P, therefore less time spent achieving a goal. 1 guy gets 99 cooking f2p, take him 2 months, in p2p it takes him 1 month and 5$. Putting 5$ into something is hardly an investment, even if you only played for 10 days of the month you'd still get more done than a month on f2p.

Anyway, i find on p2p there's a lot of jerks who annoy people because their skill/gear isn't as high as theres, i didn't have this as much as when i was F2P, so F2P aren't scum. There's a lot more flaming in p2p, example GWD, when a team gets crashed, you'll get called nerd at least 2 times or something similar. In f2p theres not really much to argue about.

ALSO, the guy that said earlier, why do p2p when we get updates, because they do to, take F.o.G, the only useful item for me is the dragon slayer gloves, everything else can be beaten by a p2p item, so even if p2p gets the update as well, it's usually f2p related items, which are worse than its p2p equivalent

I'm at Karamja ranging lessers... if I don't kill him in time people run underneath my foe and steel my arrows. Why! Have some decency and let me finish off the monster and get my arrows that I earned you PIG! Otherwise i have to run out to grab my arrows, get hit, and go back.. and guess what!, by then they stole my lesser! BASTARD!

100% P2P

OK

I'm F2P getting P2P in a few days

But I've been F2P for like 4 years

these recent updates are the only ones we've had since then

sure they remodeled the website a couple times but even if people dont play they get that

no quests, no places, no skills, no additional bank space, nothing

I agree, tho, that respect should be earned in most cases

if you get to level 32 in a day (not cheating) that demands respect but if it takes you 3 years, not as much respect in my opinion

F2P'ers are people who play for free on servers that Jagex pays.

They are players who just started and are still testing the game or players who aren't allowed from their parents to pay money (children).

In my opinion, the real "scum" are players who are allowed to pay and stay F2P.

Haha, I think that's a little too harsh. What about the ones who can pay but don't feel the need to have access to the members' game? I'm sure there are some people who can pay for it, but they are already having fun with F2P so they don't really have any need to do so.

I don't really post on Tip It..*points at post count*. ;) But this one post has caught my attention because I'm also a Free to Player that is quite sick of some members (not all) treating all Free to Players like 8 year old kids that "lyk tu be kewl on teh onlin gaem bai gadering phr33 pickles n beging tu mek deir geepees alung wid askin fo teh GF or BF fo 100gp plawks." I'm not saying that anybody that treats Free to Players horribly types like that, but it's what they think Free to Players do daily. I will not deny that some Free to Players are like that, but not all.

The real 8 year old Free to Players are the ones that are always begging for more, not being grateful of the updates that they recently got. Those people frankly make me sick because they are the ones that cause this whole discussion to even take place. In my opinion, an update is given to us by Jagex. Since we don't pay to play our game, we shouldn't even be expecting to get updates. I'm extremely happy about the updates like Bounty Hunter and Clan Wars, along with the new Achievement Diary and other things. So for you people that say every Free to Player is like that, well, you can find a good bunch of people here on Tip.It that are Free to Play and awesome.

People do victimise f2pers, which is ridiculous considering everyone was once f2p. It is unfair to generalise. I, however, think that the point of p2p is that you have extra benefits. What would be the point in paying if you got the same stuff as f2p? Also, f2pers have a perfect right to play, but seeing as they aren't helping jagex in any way, I think that they should stop whining at jagex for new updates. jagex has no obligation to give them anything. By the way, I realise that I am generalising here. Not all f2pers do this, but a fair number do.

I rarely go in contact with the "other" group. So I will mostly use my Arcanist (Funorb, made by Jagex) as my main problem.

I'm budget in Arcanist, I don't pay for it as I don't think is worth it (Argument against member, which also can apply for RS). The free servers is free for both Free and Members, with members also able to use their members spells as well. From experience members are generally arrogant, they expect to come in and win. That, is hardly the case (I win more than I lose in fact). Doesn't necessarily translate in to RS, but generally, members probably look down at F2Ps more often than not.

People say that members sometimes treat F2P terribly. I don't think that is the entire story, is more likely they treat newbies badly. Since F2P has more newbs, of course on paper it would appear we treat F2P worse.

What I really cannot get is the elitist nature of members in terms of updates. Look at this list:

* Regular content updates

* Exclusive fullscreen mode

* Nine more skills to train

* No in-game adverts

* 29 members-only minigames

* Your own home to construct

* Over 100 more quests to complete

* A world three-times larger to explore

It never said updates are P2P exclusive. You cannot fault Jagex in anyway, they aren't falsely advertising. As long as there is regular content, nothing is wrong. Not to mention the fact is that Jagex doesn't pay for ALL F2P costs. It is in their interest to get more F2P players as well to make the content more appealing. And really, is a Lumby Achievement Update, or some security place update with monsters that is worse than those found in members really going to make you feel $5 bucks is not worth it?
