You could keep all you oak logs with you, instead of having to bank in edge.

You bring all your noted oak logs with you, then you get your butler to unnote them for you, then you can get him to convert them to planks. A bit more expensive than your way, but a lot faster. :

If you have a demon butler, it takes less than ten seconds for him to do something.
