Firstly, recognizing a language is not understanding a language.

 

 

 

Secondly, while it is most likely that the players were American, it is interesting that it is simply assumed that they were. After all, the British also bombed Germany, and, considering the amount of damaged caused to England, it would be fair to assume that they are much more likely to hold a grudge. Yes, even several generations later, such prejudice can become that ingrained into a community.

 

 

 

Third, it was actually quite asinine of them to assume that you were German simply from a few lines as, as you said, they were lyrics to a song. One of my co-workers is a big fan of Rammstein and can often be heard attempting to sing some of their lyrics. These are the type to assume that I am perhaps French for saying something like C'est le vei, or Spanish/Mexican for quoting La Bamba lyrics.

 

 

 

Finally, if they were actually American (quite likely) you could have really screwed with them by convincing them that what you were speaking was not actually German, but, perhaps, Swiss, Austrian, Bavarian or Luxembourger (I believe that German, or various dialects thereof are spoken in all of those regions at least parts of them, are they not?) If for no other reason that it's fun to screw with what little brains they possess.

 

 

 

Continuing on the topic of language, I have seen players from several different countries (Norway, Germany, and several Spanish speaking countries as well as China) speaking their native tongues in game. I do not know these languages well enough to understand them completely, they may be saying just as horrible of things about myself and/or other players. I do know that persons from many other countries hold as high, if not a higher, disdain for Americans as these idiots appear to hold for Germans. While SOME Americans merit that disdain, so too do persons such as these merit the same.

 

 

 

I do understand enough Spanish to know that I have seen several players swearing and using inappropriate language. I did not pay enough attention/have enough command of the language, to make certain that it was not directed at myself or other undeserving players.

 

 

 

Honestly, I mostly ignore what is being said that is not specifically directed at me, so I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to the conversation but to note a few of the words were "colorful".

 

 

 

In any case, while I do not approve of the actions of those players and believe that their removal from the game will do nothing but improve it, I am disappointed in members of this board for assuming that they were American as well as in making the assumption that Americans are the only ones who engage in this type of action.

 

 

 

Why is it so much easier to be embarrassed by the zealous actions of a few idiots than to be proud of quiet competence of the majority?

lol a guy was harrasing me that my country was a sucking country and its a desert, and i said no and he blocked me and i cant move anywhere and he was harassing me to spit it out and i said my country is not what you think and he dosen't believe it.

 

He should learn geography my country (which is Malaysia BTW) isn't a desert and it is a OK one

I've studied WWII four times in my middle school/high school career, and I never remember the Americans bombing Germany. The front against Germany was in France

 

If I rember from the books I've read its the British who bombed Germany. But really, they probably are [developmentally delayed] who still think all Germans are evil.

American pilots bombed Germany. Two reasons why we (the US) did not *actually*.

 

 

 

1. Even now chances of somebody making a bombing run from the United States across the Atlantic and half of Europe to bomb somebody is stupid and not practical.

 

 

 

2. We were fighting in the Pacific which is where a ton of our planes/ships/etc went.

 

 

 

Even so the European front began long before the Pacific one. Tons of Americans enlisted in other allied armies to fight in Europe.

 

 

 

Regardless, welcome to the internet. And besides, you are playing a mostly American/British game. 90% of other games communities are not American and certainly would never say something like that. In fact, in most other communities there are GOBS of people who hate America right now. You have no idea. Grow some skin and get over it. Seriously. If you care that much what somebody tells you, YOU (and them) need to grow up.

lol i love to be british in these situations. Btw im pretty sure if you were in a war with someone for a year, with the english, america would have bommed some germans somewhere, at some point. It's called an air strike .....
