I was just on a members world, and said a line of lyrics in German ("heut ist mein tag"), and immediately, I was swarmed with "Stupid ***** germans we bombed your country, gtfo out of here, you lost damn ***** ***** ***** germans", "germans are.. G...A...Y!! stupid mother***** germans, kick your ***** in the duel arena, stupid low level noob", and other such phrases.

 

 

 

One of them, was 14 years old, from the appearance of his name ("****** J 1994).

 

 

 

Really, what is wrong with kids on Runescape nowadays? They're so immature. They really give a bad name to innocent children who happen to be playing.

 

 

 

Wwho cares if the Germans lost the war? You shouldn't hate Germans for that. The same argument goes for Chinese/Japanese/Any other country. Why hate them? The people in those countries haven't done anything wrong.

 

 

 

I was completely swamped with it - it wasn't just one person, I had to report five or six, before switching world, and then some of them continued to harass me via the friend chat (So, for the first time, in 3 years of playing Runescape, I've had to use my ignore function).

That's pretty pathetic. Hmmm...I could say they're racist, but then that wouldn't make sense Germans and Americans are both Caucasian. And patriotic has a positive tone to it, and this is DEFINITELY not positive. I guess I'll have to settle with oh so under appreciated, yet not as impressive word, prejudice. Our country may be run by a handful of monkeys in the top seats of Congress (thank God they are outnumbered by actual sane/good people in the lower seats), but even though we bombed Japan, we are at a peaceful status with them. We actually helped them rebuild after the destruction. I've studied WWII four times in my middle school/high school career, and I never remember the Americans bombing Germany. The front against Germany was in France...

 

I know what I'm talking about because not only have I played CoD 3 ten times through, but I slept at a Holiday Inn Express \ :thumbsup:

 

One more thing: since you edited out all the rest of the swear words, could you edit out the [Guthix][Cabbage], plox? :P You can leave it at "damn" for all I care, just make it so it's just "damn".

Kids will be kids. And like Local Guy said, since we're on the internet they do cruel things just because they can get away with it. The best thing to do is act indifferent. Even if the harassment does offend you, don't let them know that because that's their intent - and if they find out that they are just wasting their breath (or should I say finger endurance) then they will more than likely stop.

I was just a bit taken aback - P2P'ers are always saying that F2P is terrible for n00b-calling, and other such insults... But so far, I've come across more of it in P2P, than F2P.

 

 

 

It's bearable - but it's just about on par with F2P, if not more frequent, considering I'm thrown in the "n00b" class because I'm only level 62/63. (Almost 900 total levels, though. Which isn't too bad.)

There are always going to be immature haters, especially in online games. I face it everyday, whether I am playing Counter-Strike or Warcraft 3, I'll get kicked from games for being Brittish or just too damn good. And it has happened.

Anyway the best thing is to report them and walk away. They are just immature brats. Hopefully Jagex will ban them rather than mute them. Any racism in my view is totally unacceptable in RS (or anywhere else for that matter) and needs to be dealt with forcefully.

90% of all internet users don't say what they would say in real life. I guess you gotta hope that they aren't actually like that in real life and use the internet as an outlet. What i don't get however, is why anyone would hate someone because he was German... Huh? Only thing i can think of when i think of Germany is the Holocaust (its 1:00am, tired).

 

 

 

P.S. Lol, some Yale girls are filing a lawsuit against a bunch of forum users for bashing them and its a giant controversy because internet is "free of speech". I'm not American (British ftw) but I've never heard anything like that since before Construction was released (the only jokes I've ended up with after that is the posh accent-tea-sipping jokes).

There are two posts here that state that the Americans never bombed Germany. That is ridiculous.

 

The Americans tended to bomb Germany during day time raids and lost an awful lot of airman and planes. The British preferred night time. The expression "Over paid, over sexed and over here" referred to American pilots in UK.

 

Do you not remember James Garner in " The Great Escape" ? So even without studying any history this should be a clue.

 

 

 

On topic: At least they understood the German you spoke even if they cannot understand the blind prejudice that they spew!!
