When Jagex put out the December updates and destroyed the RS economy, the wilderness, and a lot of other stuff we take for granted, a whole lot of people quit. Jagex probably figured that they needed something to give the rest of us that stayed a token of their appreciation.

 

 

 

So..... did RS really need a complete makeover? Or was the new face just something to thank us for sticking with RS through the tough times? I think that had something to do with it. That probably wasn't the only reason for the change, but IMO that was a huge factor.

 

 

 

I really hope that nobody else wrote anything about the same thing. Sorry if someone did, and I guess thanks for having the same opinion.

IMO i just think that the graphics update wasnt to thank people for staying on rs, just to make the overall look better for people trying to compare the "bad" graphics to guild wars and WoW. I pked but sure, i got over it and now i've found other ways to have fun.

I haven't really minded any of the updates...sure revenants are a pain and the trade limit is too, but people find ways around it. I think the graphics update was in the works long before the other updates that people seem to hate oh so very much. I don't think it was to "appease players" just to make the game better, as most if not all updates aim to do.

They had been working on the graphical update for "almost a year".

Well Jagex started talking about the trade limits and such about a month before it came out. Also, they probably had been planning and developing those updates for quite a while as well. So that would put us at about the end of July '07. The graphics came out a year later, so Da Latios is right.

Ah, okay. Well, then, I suppose it's possible... But I still think that the graphical update was something they had been wanting to do for a long time, but was something they had never been able to do before due to Java limitations. I still don't think it was an appeasement update.

Hey, trying to guess what the company is thinking is one of the ideas that almost always leads to a good debate.

So.. uhm, we shouldn't get a huge graphics overhaul unless something really bad happened?

 

 

 

I would hope that the HD update was completely unrelated to the Dec. 10th updates, that it had already been in the works. But I wouldn't be too surprised if it was part of the effort to hold on to the remaining player base. Either way, I'm happy about it. Except for the plastic armor and the new look for the Legend's cape. :|
